Workshop #4: September 2019

Workshop #4: September 2019—

§ instructions.

Welcome to Forgotten Tales storybook character essence workshop! Here players can come together and discuss what storybook characters they are considering for their character's essence, their new potential abilities, and even ask for help if you can't think of anything on your own.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

  1. Workshop participation is required for Registration as this basically takes the place of the traditional application form, as well as posting to the Test Drive. You don't have to post together at the same time (you can do one first and then the other), but they are needed eventually.

  2. Participation in the Workshop does not guarantee a spot on either Claims or Registration, but you will need it to keep a Claim so there's no harm in trying early. Feel free to look over previous Workshops.

  3. Make sure to check the Character Roster and Essence List to see if your choices are not already taken.

  4. The character and essence don't necessarily have to perfectly match, and all characters will inherit characteristics and themes from that particular storybook character. You are free to be creative and take elements from related works and variations (like Disney), but try to keep it central to the original version. Refer to the Character section of the Game Info as a refresher on how essences and their abilities work.

  5. Storybook characters can be from any work of literary fiction such as fairy tales, folklore, fables, nursery rhymes, classics, plays, mythos, legends, etc. They can be well-known or obscure, and origins must pre-date the 1950s.

  6. Because the game currently doesn't allow duplicate essences, list your top preference and any others you're considering, but also be open for other suggestions. And if you see someone else list one you are considering, list it, anyway! Anyone could change their mind. Just don't be salty or badger anyone about their choice, otherwise it's an automatic boot out the door. The goal is to try to not only match the best essence to the character, but also one that people can have fun with.

  7. Although you can only register one character, you can workshop multiple in case you are having difficulties in deciding who to pick.

  8. Registration will open October 1. Claims will open September 24.

If you have any further questions about this or anything in general, comment to the Game Info page.

§ form.

If you're ready, just fill out the following form and discuss away! One character per comment.

Player: Player ID w/ contact
Character: Character looking to bring in
Canon: (and canon point)
Age: (of the character)
Bio Blurb: Instead of a full written history, please link a wiki page AND provide a 1-2 paragraph summary of the character's backstory. If no wiki page is available, that's okay; you're free to link a write-up if you have one or feel like making one. The summary is more of an "at a glance" to help those not familiar to get a basic idea of who the character is and what they were doing in their canon. If it helps, pretend you're writing a blurb for a CR Meme. What key important things about your character's history would you want to point out to others?

Personality Blurb: You are free to link to anything pre-written such as an app for another game, but for our purposes you must include a 1-2 paragraph blurb highlighting the main elements of the character's personality. If it helps, pick out up to 5 vices and 5 virtues that you'd associate with them and just toss in a few sentences about it. Again, you can pretend you're writing a blurb for a CR Meme.

Preferred Essence(s): Have one or a couple already in mind? List them here! Include reasons why you are thinking about that particular essence and how you would work it with the character.
Looking For: Open to other ideas? What kind of storybook character would you be interested in? Things you're not interested in should also be mentioned.

Appearance: Any notable features both for the character in general and any appearance or style changes you may be considering to match their essence.

Abilities: Whether you have an essence in mind or not, talk about what kind of abilities you're hoping to recreate or gain while in game. Any weapons that are going to be regained or explored? What abilities or weapons are lost? Skills?

Quirks: Are you interested in gaining any quirks of the storybook character? Or do you already have one already in mind? Need suggestions from your list? A reminder that the current limit is one.

Goal: What do you hope to do while in game? This could range from just having fun with the setting to exploring new aspects of the character because of the setting.
Extra: Anything else you'd like to ask or talk about. Can be about the essences or just general ideas of what you'd like to hopefully play out.
Questions: Any other questions you might have.

Post away and go buzz about everyone else!

MAGICA DE SPELL | disney comics

[personal profile] lifesa_witch 2019-09-09 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Name | [plurk.com profile] melcat33
Character: Magica De Spell
Canon: After DT comic storyline "Scrooge's Quest"
Age: N/A, implied to be 30s/40s. Due to magic, she may be older than she actually looks.
Bio Blurb: Wiki.

Magica grew up in Italy and had a traditional witch life - going to witch school, mastering magic, and making up her mind with what she wanted to do with her magic. In her younger years, she was actually softer and kinder (especially towards animals) but bullying and the idea of a "nice witch" drove that out of her. By the time she was an adult, she came across one spell no one else had ever completed, and one that would make her life easy - creating an amulet that would give her the Midas Touch, to turn all she touched into gold. All she had to do was collect the coins that were touched the most by the world's wealthiest people.

She gathered them all up (willing to pay hundreds just for pennies!) with Scrooge McDuck, world's wealthiest, being last. And that's where history was made - Scrooge was unwilling to part with his first dime, no matter how much she offered. On that day, and for many days since, Magica has used all the spells, charms, curses, etc she can get her hands on in order to take Scrooge's dime. Over the years it's become a predictable sight in Duckburg to see her flying on her broom to Scrooge's mansion, and they've fought for so long they almost know each other like a good friend would. Magica has vowed never to stop until the dime is hers.

Personality Blurb:

Magica is arguably her own worst enemy - many of her best schemes have fallen apart due to pride and pettiness. At this point it's not just about making the amulet, she has to rub her victory in Scrooge's face. (One comic showed her getting the amulet by other means, but deciding to trash it because she needed Scrooge to know he lost to her.) She absolutely doesn't understand the sentimentality behind his dime, because to her hard work means so little. She'd rather take the easy way and just have riches at her fingertips without trying. She wants to live a pampered, spoiled life and doesn't care what indignity she has to suffer to do it.

She's willing to endanger anyone (innocent children like Scrooge's nephews, for instance) to get what she wants, but this is usually when she's at her angriest. When she's calmer and more confident, her plans are less deadly and more sneaky. But when her temper is flared, that's when she'll dig in her heels and make sure all around her suffer if she has to lose. This isn't to say she has no soft spots - she does love her pet raven, Ratface, at times forgoing the dime if it means keeping the bird safe, and enjoys gardening. She's even shown that she could be an excellent teacher to younger witches and warlocks. (One Harry Potter parody had her practically adored by the Harry/Ron/Hermoine clones.) She's even willing to lend Scrooge a hand, if her mood is good enough, though never expect it to last long.

But no matter what goodness comes her way - true love, family, friendship, honest ways to make money while being happy - she'll throw it all away if she thinks there's still a chance to grab the dime. She can be rude, snarky, and a real witch with a B, but once you get to know her... she'll be rude, snarky, but maybe she won't want to zap you with her wand. Maybe.

Preferred Essence(s): Originally I was thinking Circe, since she some comics imply they're related. But I'm not 100% sure how that would work, given most of Circe's stories have her changing other people, not herself. Unless she gains a piggy tail which would be cute, but probably not what's being asked here.

I was also thinking just going straight up Midas himself! But again, that winds up changing others, not themselves. I suppose her greed could be intensified as a result, and maybe making some part of her golden-colored.
Looking For: Seeing as I'm being indecisive and my creativity is clearly blanking, I'm open to suggestions! Stories involving greed work the best, but also open to things involving witches/sorceresses or ravens.

Appearance: She's a humanoid duck, for starters. Would come up to the chest or smaller or the average adult human. Long black hair, black dress, black heels (are you sensing a theme here?) . As I mentioned above, if I go with Midas, maybe giving her gold eyes/hair.

Abilities: Magica's powers usually come from whatever she's bought/found that week, be it a wand, potion, cursed artifact, etc. Her most repeated and well-known weapon that might be interesting to get back at her Foof Bombs - a small magic bomb that temporarily stuns her enemies with a loud FOOF.

Quirks: Not sure what I'd do with Circe, but maybe with Midas I up the greed, envying what others have. Again, really open to any and all ideas.

Goal: This will be my first time playing Magica in a game, so I'm eager to test her out and see how she meshes with the setting.
Extra: Sorry that I'm so brain-dead when it comes to ideas about essences. Once I get a firmer idea of it, I'll put her on the TDM. Thanks for any and all help!

Oswald | Odin Sphere Leifthrasir

[personal profile] ashadowofhope 2019-09-09 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: VG | [plurk.com profile] demidemonLove
Character: Oswald
Canon: Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (Post-Ending)
Age: Unknown (late-teens, early twenties likely)
Bio Blurb: Due to circumstances, Oswald was long ago abandoned by his parents and found by the Vanir's Duke, Melvin. He was raised to be a perfect and unique soldier for their army, becoming the infamous and cursed Shadow Knight, body and soul sold to the Netherworld in exchange for power. However, as predicted by the dragon Hindel, his fate soon began to change upon seeing Gwendolyn, the Valkyrie Princess of the Aesir army and enemy...

(optional: Wiki)

Personality Blurb: Due to strict militaristic upbringing, Oswald can be a cold individual with unwavering loyalty; at first, this was exclusive to his adoptive father, but over time, even he began to question some of his orders. When the truth is eventually revealed, Oswald spirals into a depression, having lost any will to go on since his life had been all but devoted to serving Melvin.

But, a blue bird gives him a spark of hope and results in Oswald trying to find his own worth and making his own path in life, even escaping the Netherworld first.

He becomes more assertive and no nonsense with many attempts to make use of his skills often ending in his favor (ask him how he got a castle and his wife). He loathes the mistreatment of people, threatening and sometimes killing said perpetrators of these exploitation especially if the victim is Gwendolyn. Speaking of Gwendolyn, Oswald shows he can be a fairly affectionate and kind individual, but is very reserved about showing that openly.

Preferred Essence(s): I'm between Hades (Greek Mythology) and the Beast (Beauty and the Beast)
Looking For: Nah, I think I'm good with these two.

Appearance: Standing around 177 cm tall, he's a fair-skinned human of a slightly muscular, but more lithe build with windswept, platinum-blonde (not white) hair and sporting heterochromia. His natural eye color is actually purple/violet, but his left eye is red (and glows when his power's active) due to the deal with Odette, Queen of the Netherworld.

Abilities: Although he might lose his magic, Oswald is still a capable swordsman having participated in battle for a good amount of his life. He's also skilled at espionage despite wearing armor and is skilled at alchemy. Depending on essence:

Hades - Necromancy, Invisibility (the Unseen One), Pyschopomp Physiology (weak initially or down the line gain), familiars like Cerberus and the Furies, Darkness manipulation

Beast - Transformation (Beast to Human and vice versa), Increased Strength, Increased Speed, Animal Instincts

Quirks:
Beast - Inability to say his name and/or animal rage. Desires to hunt (I believe this is a part of the Beast's degradation during his time cursed if I remember correctly)
Hades - Avoids bright places if he can

Goal: He's coming from the end of the game so the world is kind of... yeah. Socializing in general.
Extra: It's not completely copy-paste yay!
Questions: Nope!
kawkaw: (Crane 03)

Master Crane | Kung Fu Panda movie franchise

[personal profile] kawkaw 2019-09-09 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Usami | [plurk.com profile] usamichan13
Character: Master Crane
Canon: Post-Kung Fu Panda 2
Age: mid-30s
Bio Blurb: Wiki

Personality Blurb:
Despite being a Kung Fu master, Crane prefers to resolve conflicts without fighting if possible. He is pragmatic, and occasionally nervous when stepping into battle. However, he is still a skilled and reliable warrior, and when conflict is unavoidable he will fight hard in order to win. He cares a lot about those he fights with, and does his best to protect them from danger. However, he isn't above some light teasing or sarcasm.

Preferred Essence(s): LWP suggested the Crane from Tsuru no Ongaeshi, which I'll admit is somewhat amusing. Especially if that means I can give him a human form.

Looking For: Other than the above, I don't really have anything in mind, so I'm open to any suggestions. Maybe something have to do with Kung Fu, or cranes, or stories about confidence.

Appearance: He's a black-necked crane from China, wearing blue trousers with a purple sash, a paper rice hat, and rings around his ankles and tones. Depending on the Essence he has, he may end up gaining a human form too.

Abilities: Crane's most notable ability is his mastery of Kung Fu, which he learned and trained over the course of his life. He also seems to have some aerokinetic abilities.

Quirks: With the Tsuru no Ongaeshi story, he may have an irrational need to hide the fact that he's actually a crane, though he won't really understand it himself.

Goal: Mostly just looking to have fun with Crane, and stretch his wings out, so to speak.

Extra: This is entirely LWP's fault.

Questions: Nah.

Elizabeth | Bioshock Infinite

[personal profile] throughthetears 2019-09-10 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Parks | [plurk.com profile] everlark
Character: Elizabeth
Canon: After Fitzroy sends her forces after him
Age: 19
Bio Blurb: (Wiki.)

MAJOR SPOILERS for Bioshock Infinite. Elizabeth was born Anna DeWitt to Booker and Annabelle. After his wife died, Booker fell into an alcohol and gamling-fueled depression. To pay off his debts, he sold Anna (to himself, from another universe where he's Comstock). Regretting this immediately, he runs after them and grabs for her, getting her pinky cut off in the tear. Anna grows up in a tower thanks to Mrs. Comstock's jealousy and rage. She has no idea that she's being watched and studied by the Luteces, and her only friend is the Songbird.

She reads and reads and reads. She learns to do a lot, dances, sings. She teaches herself to lockpick. She figures out how to rip 'tears' in the universe that you could step through, to different universes or times. It gets harder as she gets older. She dreams of going to Paris, surrounding herself in Parisian things, and actually tries to open tears to Paris and other places. This is when Booker finds her, and takes her away from there.

Personality Blurb:

Elizabeth from her canon point is pretty naive. She is horrified when Booker uses lethal force to get her out of the ticketing office, calling him a monster before he explains that people went to a lot of trouble to keep her in that tower. She also later is horrified when she has to kill someone herself. She's carefree and excited to see the world, dancing on the docks, buying necklaces with Booker on the boardwalk. She's just so happy not to be trapped, to be able to see new things or things she's only seen in books.

She's incredibly smart, though. She learns how to do a lot through books, basically having self-taught herself everything. She knows how to lockpick, and understands physics and such. Most of all, though, she's loving and caring and kind. If she sees injustice, she tries to make it right, no matter what. Even if something would hurt her if she tried to help, she'd still help. She loves deeply and completely, and she'll do whatever she can for her loved ones. She's horrified by the cruel injustice of the world, and tries to counter-balance that with kindness, even if she's not successful.

Preferred Essence(s): Rapunzel! She's locked in a tower by a crazy, evil person, wants to see the world, is rescued, her hair is cut (later in canon), she feels trapped in life.

Another option would be Beauty from Beauty and the Beast. She's locked away, watched, she wants moooooooore, but eventually the 'Beast' himself releases her.

Looking For: I'm open to other ideas, but I think those two are perfect ideas.

Appearance: She is missing a pinky and wears a silver thimble on the half-pinky. I might have her hair grow just a little longer if I get Rapunzel.

Abilities: Her abilities are ripping 'tears' from universe to universe or within different times. I'm fine with giving this up or getting it back. I would love to borrow Tangled's power, that her hair has magical healing properties, if I get Rapunzel.

Quirks: I'm open to it, but none in mind!

Goal: To have fun with the setting and get Elizabeth some friends!

Kokichi Oma | Danganronpa V3

[personal profile] shslliar 2019-09-10 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Nyanka | [plurk.com profile] nyanka
Character: Kokichi Oma
Canon: Danganronpa V3 (post chapter 5)
Age: Unknown (I usually play him as 16 since the main cast is full of teenagers)
Bio Blurb: Wiki.

Personality Blurb: Kokichi is a mischevious liar who insists he's the leader of an evil organisation... Who lies. A lot. He is into lying so much that it's actually hard to tell what his true feelings are about any given situation. He's rather distrustful of others... Which comes back to bite him in a murdergame situation where he's managed to antagonize the group.

But he is a rather clever fellow who hides his intellect under a layer of childish tomfoolery. His goals are suprisingly benevolent, but his trust issues and the "evil" reputation he's built force him to use manipulative tactics and other underhanded schemes to achieve his goals in dire situations.

But hey, if you can put up with his constant lying and teasing, perhaps he'll eventually warm up to you and consider you an ally. Especially if there's no chance of getting killed by your peers involved.

Preferred Essence(s): I think it would be funny to slap him with Candlewick, the kid who talks Pinnochio into going to the Land of Toys and winds up turning into a donkey.
Looking For: Nothing really, but I'm open to suggestions.

Appearance: 5'1", dark purple hair and eyes, pale skin, usually seen wearing a large checkered bandana. I'm going to give him permanent donkey ears and a tail for the sake of humiliating him, but those can be hidden under clothes... So he'll probably start wearing a long coat and a hat.

Abilities: Lucky Kokichi, he gets stuck with the ability to turn into an actual (talking) donkey! He can shift between forms on his own, which is useful since donkeys tend to be faster and sturdier than humans, but I want to saddle him with an involuntary aspect of it as well... Problem is, I don't know how to impliment the involuntary part without hampering his ability to participate in campaigns too much. I originally thought of having him stuck as a donkey during the day and human at night, but maybe I could try something less limiting, like having to wait a few hours in between form shifts?

I could also let him have enhanced hearing since, you know, donkey ears?

Quirks: Inexplicable adversion to working on farms? IDK

Goal: Messing around in the setting and annoying Kokichi with his dumb ability.
Extra: oh thank god i don't have to write an essay about this gremlin I heard AC is pretty lax here. This is pretty good, considering I'm in two other games and have a habit of apping to murdergames now and then. That being said, I might be kind of slow this month, but I will try to be active!
Questions: Do people usually have an info page on their journals for this game? If so, is there a code that everyone uses?

Ganondorf || The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

[personal profile] demonkingofthieves 2019-09-10 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Player: CS | [plurk.com profile] pocketnoivern
Character: Ganondorf
Canon: Twilight Princess (postgame)
Age: N/A but probably in his late twenties or thirties
Bio Blurb: (optional: Wiki Blurb.)

Personality Blurb: Ruthless, cold, greedy, and above all possessing an unquenchable thirst for power, Ganondorf is often depicted as the incarnation of pure evil in the series. Bearing a sense of entitlement and a massive arrogance, he believes that above all others, he is the only person worthy to rule the kingdom of Hyrule, and will stop at nothing until his goals are met. He is not above talking down to enemies he believes are weaker than him, even referring to his foes as “worms”, “maggots”, and other such words. He will taunt his opponents and flaunt his strength, whether it be his impressive combat prowess or his brilliant tactical mind. However, despite his strengths, he is a sore loser, and often swears revenge or refuses to admit defeat when bested in battle. Though his pride may be damaged by an opponent who bests him, he is capable of learning from his mistakes, and will strike a foe from a new angle if he was thwarted once before. He is also a skilled strategist, and has been shown multiple times to be capable of manipulating and tricking others into doing his dirty work for him.

Since Twilight Princess occurs in a timeline where he never manages to open the Door of Time, he retains much of the confidence and sarcastic wise-cracking nature he had in the Child Timeline of Ocarina of Time. He is also rather reckless and cocky, which in this timeline led to his capture and attempted execution at the hands of the Sages at the Arbiter’s Grounds.

Ganondorf also possesses a vast amount of jealousy brought on by growing up in the harsh climate of the Gerudo Desert. The whole reason he began his attempts to conquer Hyrule began because he wanted the lush fields and rich bounty of the kingdom for himself. However, despite his jealous nature, he is capable of recognizing the strengths of others if they somehow manage to impress him, and will show a begrudging amount of respect towards these individuals, such as allowing them to live if defeated or acknowledging their strength in battle.

Preferred Essence(s): The Calydonian Boar from Greek Mythology
Looking For: Honestly, I think this is the most fitting Essence for him, but if others come up with something more fitting I’ll listen to it!

Appearance: I’m thinking of giving him some tusks to mark him as having a boar’s essence, or giving him hooved feet/satyr-like legs.

Abilities: Chief of his abilities granted by the Calydonian Boar, Ganondorf would be able to transform into a large, monstrous, boar-like creature. This beast will be a hybrid between his Dark Beast Ganon form and that of a traditional wild bull, and will be a little bigger than a large truck (for starters). In this form he is incredibly strong and capable of immense physical damage to people and his surroundings. In addition to this, Ganondorf will also gain the ability to influence and command wild boars and boar-like creatures (starting with about 1 or 2 and increasing with time/mastery), as well as be able to briefly emit an aura that enrages foes and causes them to focus their attacks on him while disregarding allies, whatever foe they are focusing on, or their own personal defenses (think of it like a Rage effect). However, Ganondorf will also gain a susceptibility to injuries caused by arrows, as well as struggle against foes that are female.

Quirks: Other than finding himself followed by wild boars, I’m not too sure. Help on quirks would be appreciated!

Goal: Domination. He not only had his plans to take over Hyrule thwarted once by a fairy child’s warning, but then was defeated once more by Link and Zelda after he’d clawed his way out of the Twilight Realm. Needless to say, he’s a little ticked off. What better way to get back at those who wronged him than by conquering this fairy tale realm and then using the powers he gains here to take over not only Hyrule, but other worlds as well? Seems like a good goal as any for Ganondorf.

Percy Jackson l Percy Jackson & the Olympians

[personal profile] natation 2019-09-10 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Caprica | [plurk.com profile] caprican
Character: Perseus (Percy) Jackson
Canon: (and canon point) Percy Jackson & the Olympians, and I figure post Heroes of Olympus? I have yet to read past that and the Kane Chronicles and their cross over yet so haven't gotten to Magnus Chase and Apollo's stuff yet.
Age: Seventeen
Bio Blurb: (optional: Wiki.) But basically, Percy is a demi-god, aka the son of Sally Jackson (human) and Poseidon (the God. You know the one.) He was thus raised in the US and everything seemed normal for the most part, until he turned twelve and was then whisked off to Camp Half Blood and learned the truth about who his father was and about his powers as a demi-god. At Camp, he made friends, met his future love of his life (Annabeth), and learned how to fight, how to use his powers as they met up each summer around school.

He goes on Quests to help the Gods, usually because of some Prophecy or other. Which is decidedly not without danger but Somehow he survives and makes it to reach seventeen years old in spite of all this. Somehow. He has also (thanks but No Thanks, Hera) had memory issues back home at one point, completely forgetting everything except his name and Annabeth. He basically Does Not Recommend dealing with Hera especially.

Personality Blurb: Percy is loyal, to a fault. He is brave, and one has to be with dealing with the Gods and their Prophecies and everything else that comes with being a demi-god. He can be sarcastic and witty in his comments/observations and sense of humor, and is something of a rebel in that he doesn't like being told what to do. Mostly because, well, the Quests for the Gods/Prophecies don't always go according to plan to say the least.

Percy is also not necessarily the brightest, in being kind of oblivious at times, even when the answer can be right there staring at him in the face. This seeming at odds with how perceptive he can be sometimes on occasion, but this is just how he is.

Percy has a lot of things to feel guilty about as well, which he has gotten better about somewhat since he came back from Tartarus and being faced with those that he wronged/forgot or ignored in them Cursing him down there. Which is to say that he can also be short-tempered at times, being an emotional teen and what with the whole sea thing he has going on. Because of his temper, he can be reckless and act without thinking, which is also where the loyalty comes in with him being very protective of those he cares about.

“To save a friend, you would sacrifice the world.”
–Athena to Percy about his fatal flaw, in The Titan's Curse.

This basically sums Percy up though, as his Fatal Flaw as a demi-god. He is so loyal that he is the sort that will risk the world's safety or his own if it meant saving someone he cared about. Or even a stranger, at that. He's quicker to roll with most anything at this point after all he has seen and done by now since arriving at Camp and all, too.

Preferred Essence(s): The Fish Prince.

Looking For: Open to other ideas? As long as it involves the ocean/water somehow or other.

Appearance: Black hair, sea green eyes. More toned/muscular since he has been training at Camp to learn to fight for years now. Has a tattoo on his arm from his time at the Roman Camp.

Abilities: Actually trying to list them all reminds me how many he has.....

In a nutshell though, he can create/manipulate water, breathe underwater. He has ADHD and dyslexia because demigods. He has general fighting skills because of course he has to defend himself from all sorts of monsters back home. He sometimes has prophetic dreams. He has an empathy link with his friend Grover, and has the Horus symbol to contract Carter Kane. Depending on canon point, previously also had the Curse of Achilles as well. He can communicate with sea life and horses.

Here for Forgotten Tales, I am still thinking of somehow going with the water theme given how huge it is for Percy, son of Poseidon and all. I'm thinking if I go the Fish Prince route that could extend to talking/communicating with sealife and turning into a fish/being able to breathe underwater?

Quirks: I guess the 'too trusting' thing is probably not really going to change much if anything with Percy.

Goal: I haven't actually played him outside a psl and a few times on memes so. I'm keen to try Percy? In a smaller, more relaxed setting maybe.
Extra: I might put him on the test drive when I have a better idea on this. I'm still looking things up and such at the moment really. Mostly I am figuring this out and noting that Percy will automatically flip at not having Riptide with him.
Questions: I am sure more will come to me later when I read more perhaps but none for now.

Adrien Agreste | Miraculous!

[personal profile] nerdcat 2019-09-10 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Lizzie | [plurk.com profile] Doodlebuginette
Character: Adrien Agreste
Canon: (not sure about canon point just yet~) I'll likely pull him from roughly post-season 1/Christmas special-era, though.
Age: 14
Bio Blurb: (optional: Wiki.)

The Agrestes were happy, once upon a time. Adrien was content with his sheltered life because it was all he'd ever known. Modeling his father's designs and working hard at whatever new lessons Gabriel decided would be beneficial made him happy, because it made his parents happy. Things changed after his mother went missing. More specifically, his father changed. Rules became stricter, expectations became higher, responsibilities became heavier.

Starting public school was a challenge for a couple of reasons. He'd never really been around a lot of kids his own age so he wasn't quite sure how to talk to them. Meeting Plagg and becoming Chat Noir opened up a whole new world for him, as it gave him the opportunity to behave the way he wanted to rather than the way his father expected him to. Meeting Ladybug gave him a mission, and a purpose, beyond just playing the obedient little puppet of Gabriel Agreste.

Personality Blurb: At first glance, Adrien is a charming, happy boy who likes to have fun and be with his friends. Dig a little deeper, and the truth is somewhat less rosy. Having spent the majority of his life with his parents and a single friend (an admittedly bratty girl) for company, Adrien is very naive about the world at large, as well as how to really relate to his peers. He's very good at telling people what he thinks they want to hear, particularly his father and Nathalie.

In short, Adrien is a somewhat lonely, serious boy who just wants to live a normal life with normal friends. He's eager to meet people and befriend them, though not quite sure how to go about it. Relating to his classmates in particular is always an adventure because it seems like every day he's learning something new about one or more of them, or about the world in general. He can, admittedly, be kind of a pushover when it comes to his friends, often going along with something he knows he's not actually allowed to do in favor of keeping people happy.

Adrien isn't terribly open with his emotions, particularly with people he doesn't know well. He finds it easier to downplay them or just avoid talking about them altogether, which can sometimes lead to him acting impulsively if his emotions are running high. His relationship with Gabriel, in particular, is a bit of a sore spot for him. He loves his father, and he's pretty sure that Gabriel also loves him. It's just difficult to remember that sometimes, when the man seems more interested in micromanaging his life than actually spending time with him.

Perhaps as a result of his own father's absence, Adrien tries to be openly encouraging and friendly to others. He's also incredibly loyal to the friends he does have. The people he cares about are important to him and he feels protective of them. Ladybug is an extreme example in that he feels driven to fight for her (and with her) even without the mask. He has a bit of a rebellious streak, though the extent of this has really only been sneaking out a handful of times or taking things that didn't belong to him.

Preferred Essence(s): Rapunzel would be a good fit, honestly, because it's pretty much his life.
Looking For: I'm pretty open to other ideas as well, as I know there were a couple other ones mentioned for Adrien (but I can't remember what they are at the moment, so~)

Appearance: Vanilla nerd Spicy nerd

Abilities: Adrien is an accomplished fencer and pianist, fluent in a handful of languages (English, Chinese, French), a gifted model and a very convincing actor when he needs to be. With the help of Plagg (and the Black Cat Miraculous), he's also able to transform into Chat Noir, a black cat themed superhero.

If I go with Rapunzel: I was thinking that some type of enchanting voice ability might be neat, as well as maybe the ability to heal (a la the magic hair/song combo) but I'm not entirely sure how that would work out.

Quirks: I'm kind of drawing a blank as far as quirks go. For Rapunzel, I kind of enjoy the idea of him having longer hair, but aside from that...?

Goal: At the moment, my main goal is for him to broaden his horizons a little. Make some friends. Grow up a little.
Extra:
Please enjoy my nerdy boy being a nerd.
Questions: Am I really doing this~? (Yes. The answer is yes.)

Player: Greta/Bun | [plurk.com profile] bunnymoonvii
Character: Isa
Canon: Kingdom Hearts (Post KH3)
Age: 25-26
Bio Blurb: (Isa/Saix.) Former Org XIII member trying to atone for his past.

Personality Blurb: Outwardly, Isa is stoic and unemotional. He's also quick to be snarky in a deadpan way. But underneath the cold, grumpy demeanor is a sensitive heart that is prone to loneliness. He has deep regret for the way he acted in the past and desperately wants to atone for his actions.

Preferred Essence(s): The rabbit in the moon.

Looking For: I'll hear out other moon based characters, but I'm set on the moon rabbit. I'm more looking for other powers and quirks he may have.

Appearance: Here It'd be mostly the same, though because of the Asian origin of the moon rabbit, he'd likely end up in Asian style clothing, something like this. (Since KH is Japanese in origin, Japanese clothes makes the most sense to me.)

Also rabbit ears when the moon is full, maybe?

Abilities:
His canon abilities are weapon summoning, a moon-powered berserk mode, moon-based "flame" attacks, and the ability to Silence foes and keep them from using magic (as well as immunity to being silenced himself)

Essence based abilities could be the ability to make healing elixiers/healing mochi and Invulnerability to flame?

Quirks: He has to make ALL the mochi, all of it.

Goal: To get Isa out of his shell and have him socialize more.
Extra: Why haven't I done this yet?

Scrooge McDuck | Ducktales 2017

[personal profile] richestduck 2019-09-11 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Cybra | [plurk.com profile] cybra
Character: Scrooge McDuck (2017)
Canon: Ducktales 2017 (still need to figure out canon point, I'm thinking before Della gets back though if I wanted maximum awful I'd also go with either pre-series or post-Last Crash of the Sunchaser, need help figuring out where to pull from)
Age: 150-ish
Bio Blurb: Wiki. Not sure if I'll include the tie-in comics since their canonicity is in question. Also ignore that druid stones explanation for his longevity. That's unconfirmed.

Much like the other Scrooge in this place, Scrooge is the richest duck in the world. Unlike the other Scrooge, he's spent the past ten years along due to Della stealing the Spear of Selene (a rocket ship he'd had built to commemorate her triplets' hatching) and disappearing in a cosmic storm. Scrooge quit adventuring and grew cold to friends and family alike, keeping everyone at a distance.

However, when Donald was in desperate need of a babysitter, Scrooge met his great-nephews for the first time. They plus Webby managed to pull him out of his shell, prompting him to go on what he'd intended to be one last adventure to discover the lost city of Atlantis. In the end, it turned out to be the first of many, many adventures together, but the family nearly split up once more when the secret of the Spear was revealed to the boys. To make things worse, Scrooge's archnemesis escaped from her prison (sealed in his Number One Dime) to exact her revenge. Fortunately, the family came back together to depower Magica.

Personality Blurb:

Scrooge is brave, bold, and quite the adrenaline junkie, him enjoying being in the thick of things. However, rather than activities like bungee jumping or hang gliding, Scrooge prefers real danger such as dodging death traps, fighting monsters, and searching for things people believe to be nothing more than fiction. As important as board meetings are to running a business, he'd much rather be out doing something rather than just sitting around talking about how to get others to do it for him.

He has a strong streak of recklessness as a result though it was worse when he was younger. He has no issues risking his own life for some sort of perceived gain either towards his reputation or in filling his Money Bin. However, the kids have been a positive influence in that regard, encouraging him to rein it in for their safety if not his own. This reckless streak gets even worse when his pride comes into play.

Speaking of pride, Scrooge has a lot of it. Very often Scrooge will assure others that he can do something because "I'm Scrooge McDuck". He has a lot of confidence in his experience and the skills he's honed over the past century and a half. This tends to be a double-edged sword in either giving him the courage needed to take a risk or making him overconfident which leads back to his recklessness depending on the situation.

Like his nephew Donald, he also has quite a temper. When backed into a corner, he will often times react in anger, lashing out at whoever put him in that position. While he hasn't struck any members of his family, he will strike objects with other objects (such as the dining room table with his newspaper) to express that anger physically. However, he can say things in a fit of anger that he will deeply regret later.

As can be expected by anyone who's ever heard the name "Scrooge McDuck", he's also greedy and a tightwad. Scrooge takes pride in the fact that he doesn't spend a penny more than he has to and will quite shamelessly do things such as take extra food from a free buffet so that's a little less food he has to buy later. When the money in his Bin somehow came to life and formed a giant money shark with legs (him not knowing it was Magica's "niece" Lena's doing per her orders), his immediate concern was in losing that money with the damage being done to Duckburg by it coming second. However, in this particular case it might not just be greed as a motivating factor but also sentimentality: The money in Scrooge's Bin he earned himself and he knows the story behind each piece in his collection.

However, at his core, Scrooge is a family man even though he has no wife and children of his own. He loves all his nephews plus his honorary niece very deeply and would risk life and limb to save them if they were in trouble. However, this is a double-edged sword for him given that as happy as family makes him, they also have the power to hurt him the worst. He spent ten years in a deep depression after not just the loss of Della but the loss of Donald and Della's unhatched children. Scrooge needs family in his life, the color in essence draining out of everything when they're gone.

While Scrooge is capable of being soft and gentle, it's a bit hard for him to express it at times. He doesn't really understand children (him asking on first meeting the boys if kids still played with marbles, for example), likely because he had to step up and start working at such a young age. He also seems to keep his vulnerabilities as much to himself as possible such as not telling Goldie for a hundred years that "you're Scrooge McDuck" wasn't always a good enough reason for her to throw him under the proverbial bus. Most likely, this is partially because of Scrooge having suffered so many betrayals over his long lifetime.

One positive thing that can be said of Scrooge is that he's an honest sort in that he plays by the rules. This is something else he takes pride in, making sure to add to his proclamation that he's "tougher than the toughies and smarter than the smarties" that he made his money square. As a result, he greatly disdains others who would try to bend the rules or outright cheat their way to the top.

Preferred Essence(s): Thor from Norse mythology since he canonically is secretly keeping the world-eating serpent Jormungandr at bay.
Looking For: I'm open to alternate ideas.

Appearance: He's an anthropomorphic duck about three feet tall. As far as anything indicating his story, I'm open to suggestions.

Abilities: Lightning...and he's not very good at controlling it when the McDuck temper comes out. Confounded magic! Also likely to give himself and others static pops by accident.

Quirks: I'm not sure what quirks there would be so suggestions welcome.

Goal: Having fun with the setting and having Scrooge dealing with weird abilities.
Extra: Again, open to suggestions.
Questions: Help I have no idea what I'm doing.

Rosalia Rossellini | Trauma Team

[personal profile] bloodinbloom 2019-09-11 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Player: VG | [plurk.com profile] demidemonLove
Character: Rosalia Rossellini
Canon: Post-Death (Post-Game)
Age: 15
Bio Blurb: (Wiki)

Rosalia was the adopted daughter of Dr. Albert Sartre and adopted sister of Erhard (CR-S01). Though unspecified, she grew up in an orphanage until the virologist discovered something rather unique about the girl: that she was a natural host to a deadly virus. If the virus could've been cultivated properly, it could've ended all diseases.

Instead, the virus ultimately broke the small family apart, killed an entire community college campus, and forced Dr. Sartre and Rosalia to flee, leaving Erhard behind. Despite fleeing, and despite continued attempts to turn her disease into a cure for mankind, Dr. Sartre was later infected himself and killed Rosalia before his own death.

Personality Blurb: A cinnamon roll to end cinnamon rolls, Rosalia was an optimistic and very happy girl, but not always. For much of her childhood, she was alone, ignored often by the other kids in the orphanage, and even given the nickname 'Crybaby Rose' since she cried almost regularly. She was very timid and probably would've died in a fire had Maria Torres not saved her.

She easily attached to people, going from just meeting Maria to calling her 'Big Sis' quickly, and always making sure to send her letters after being adopted. Similarly, she attached herself to Erhard ('Big Bro') and Dr. Sartre (calling him Dad or Daddy), taking it upon herself to take care of the household chores while they worked. A big thing to know was she never really picked up on being mean to people or complain about her lot in life, putting on a brave face and hoping for everyone's success.

(And we know how that story ended.)

Preferred Essence(s): I've been eyeing Medusa. It was a suggestion, but open to other options. Still, I could see the tie-in between a stony gaze that petrifies/kills parallel to her own virus.
Looking For: Roles that might parallel her accidentally being dangerous or roles that match her personality. Not that either would stop her; she'd want to be around people.

Appearance: Rosalia is a smallish girl with pale skin, paler hair, and bright pink eyes; likely albinism due to the virus living inside her. Beyond that, there's nothing inherently unique about her besides maybe nervously standing pigeon-toed.

Abilities: If we go with Medusa, we're going for the snake hair, the ability to turn people to stone (temporarily and under stress), and... maaaybe being part snake? The original depiction of Medusa has her with the snake hair and a normal body, but there are wings so idk... I kinda like the snakier depiction (and if we go that route, cold-blooded)

Quirks: Liking warm things... and occasional tongue flick.

Goal: Make new friends! Yay!
Extra: Open to all the suggestions
Questions: Nope! Though, do tell me why I'm already planning another character?

Annabeth Chase | Percy Jackson & the Olympians

[personal profile] sofoskoritsi 2019-09-11 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Xae | [plurk.com profile] Tsukeru
Character: Annabeth Chase
Canon: PJO - most likely post Heroes of Olympus; maybe adding in the Kane crossover
Age: 17
Bio Blurb: Wiki
Annabeth is a daughter of Athena and a mortal man, she was born out of her mother's head (she has a bellybutton, thnx) and when her father remarried, she ran away from home when she was seve. She doesn't get along all that great with her stepmother, has a phobia of spiders. Annabeth is extremely intelligent, wants to be an architect, excellent with a dagger and other weapons including hand-to-hand. Plus she has all the usual demigod quirks like dyslexia, ADHD, enhanced traits and has survived holding the weight of the sky along with Tartarus.

Personality Blurb: Strong-willed, intelligent, leader, loves architecture (designing and examining), witty, loyal, kind-hearted but can absolutely be fierce if necessary.

Preferred Essence(s): idk about preferred honestly but....

The Wise Princess fits well with Annabeth. A girl who has great intelligence but doesn't know what true happiness is and is always searching for it. Not even Death could teach her until she sacrficed herself to save someone else at the cost of her own life.

I had some other thoughts like Greek essences such as Penelope who used trickery and wits to turn away suitors while her husband was away.

Looking For:

BUT! It would be fun to pull Annabeth out of her comfort zone completely too and give her an essence that would come with a lot of new abilities for her to learn how to handle so. Lay anything on me! She would not do too great in a "I'm a damsel in distress" role, though it's Annabeth so she'd probably kick butt then too. /shrug

Appearance:

If one of the listed two - Annabeth wouldn't really change much. 1880s style clothing for the first one, and a chiton for Penelope.

Abilities:

Again... this is where I go okay, basically it's just Annabeth. With all her normal skills: intelligence, weaving, wisdom, trickery. Perhaps with Penelope she can see through illusions or even create them herself. Skill with archery (again, already good at it).

Quirks:
Option 1: Swimming becomes dangerous for her and she may potentially drown.
Option 2: Attracts men despite how faithful she is to one.

Goal: Plz let Annabeth learn all your stories and have them memorized so she can give you advice on them. But mostly she'll be here to make sure Percy doesn't break the world and help everyone fix what's wrong.

Extra: idk, I thought maybe some kind of owl because Athena = owls = wisdom but really she could do with some change up.

Rosabella Beauty | Ever After High

[personal profile] legacyofarose 2019-09-11 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Usami | [plurk.com profile] usamichan13
Character: Rosabella Beauty
Canon: Ever After High, mid-Epic Winter
Age: around 16/17
Bio Blurb: Wiki

Personality Blurb:
In Ever After High, students can choose to be Royals - those who wish to follow in their parents' footsteps and fulfill the stories expected of them, or Rebels - those who wish to write their own destiny. Rosabella has chosen the path of Rebel, but not because she does not like her parents' story. In fact, she is very proud to be the daughter of Beauty and the Beast, of the lesson that the story represents, and is "hexcited" to meet the prince of her story. But the reason Rosabella has chosen to be a Rebel is because she feels her own happily ever after is far less important than helping others.

With a big heart, Rosabella deeply cares about all animals, and is able to see the good and beauty in even beastly creatures. But because beasts tend to be treated badly in Fairy Tale society, Rosabella fights on their behalf, using her authority to campaign for their rights. Intelligent, she isn't afraid to question things that others might not, and urges others to try to see things differently. And because she is able to see the good in others, that includes getting people to look at themselves differently, as she does her best to guide them to reach the potential that she knows they're capable of.

Preferred Essence(s): Honestly, since I'm pretty sure Beauty and the Beast is off the table, I don't really have an idea for her? I thought about Persephone at first, but I already have Bridge as Orpheus, so I don't know if I want another Greek mythology figure. I'm also trying to stay away from the more common fairy tales.

Looking For: I'm really open to anything, but maybe something to do with someone seeing people's true selves, or something to do with animals

Appearance: Here. Depending on what Essence she has, there could be some changes.

Abilities: Back home, Rosabella has the ability to read and decipher a person's aura, and can see who they really are. Maybe an Essence related to that somehow.

Quirks: I honestly have no idea

Goal: Just to have fun with Rosabella seeing what it's like to actually rewrite a well-known story
Extra: I'm so bad at thinking up Essences, sorry.
Questions: Why do I do this to myself?

Fuuka Yamagishi | Persona 3 Portable

[personal profile] cookingmechanic 2019-09-11 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Rebecca | [personal profile] cookingmechanic
Character: Fuuka Yamagishi
Canon: Persona 3 Portable (with FMC), a month after the end of the game.
Age: 17
Bio Blurb: Fuuka's Bio

Fuuka was raised by insecure parents who put a lot of pressure on her to fulfill dreams they could no long fulfill themselves. This led to her being withdrawn and easily bullied. It reached a breaking point when she was locked in the school gym overnight; this unintentionally put her danger, as at midnight every might, the school would transform into a maze-like tower full of monsters. It was during this time though that she awakened to her psychic abilities and managed to keep out of trouble. She was rescued by a group of other students who also had abilities. They called themselves SEES, and they fought these monsters, called 'Shadows.'

She joined them without hesitation, wanting to prove herself and realizing she had a power unique to her which could help others. Fuuka grew close with the group, and grew into a more confident, compassionate young woman. When the leader of SEES, Minako, sacrificed herself to seal away the shadows, everyone was devastated. The group all grieved differently, and began to drift apart, despite Fuuka's best efforts.

Personality Blurb: Fuuka is currently secure in her abilities, but she grew from a place of deep rooted insecurity and fear of disappointment. This still creeps through when life gets particularly hard. Still, even at her lowest point, she can't help but strive to be helpful. Whatever small thing she can do, she will do it, if only to feel useful. This part of her personality shines best in hard times, but on a day to day has led to her causing more trouble for those she's trying to help.

Above all else, Fuuka is diligent and disciplined. Failure doesn't stop her, even if it sometimes should. She does better when motivated by those around her, but is able to push through on her own if needed. However, now that she has gotten used to a large friend group, being alone is no longer as appealing as it once was. She feels strongest in a group, supporting those around her. Without a group, she begins to feel lost and begins to grasp at anything that might bring her loved ones back to her.

Preferred Essence(s): I have looked at the princess from 'East of the Wind and West of the Moon,' because of her persistence to pursue the prince, despite all the pain and strife. I also looked at Cassandra, the prophet from Greek mythology who was cursed by Apollo to never be believed, since they both have psychic abilities.

Looking For: I'm looking for characters who persevere, and who may not necessarily be the main character. I've obviously listed two 'main' characters, but I don't need that kind of particular Essence.

Appearance: Fuuka's hair is cut fairly short, and she wears blues/greens with almost every outfit. I'm imagining that her hair would grow past her shoulders in curly waves, matching a more storybook/mythology look. Even if she cuts it, it keeps growing back the next day.

Abilities: In P3P, Fuuka's primary psychic abilities include: being able to map out whole buildings with her mind, identifying where people are within a city, telling someone's health from afar, identifying monsters/shadows/people and their abilities. I imagine this would get cut down significantly, or changed to a different kind of psychic ability. In the case of the princess from 'East/West', perhaps she could gain control of wind, since in the story she is helped by the wind. In the case of Cassandra, she could receive visions or be able to have "psychic gut reactions" to things.

Quirks: I'd love to gain one, but might need some help coming up with one. What I mentioned above might be applicable, especially in the case of Cassandra, but otherwise, I'm not sure.

Goal: I really want to have a fun time. My friend Jo recommended this to me, and I thought I'd give it a shot.

Extra: Jo has mentioned bringing in Junpei to go with my Fuuka, and so she may be looking to match our Essences' up. I'm not sure how that would work in the application process, but I wanted to give you a heads up. I don't want to cause any issues, and we will have fun regardless of what our Essences are.

Questions: None now, thank you~

Junpei Iori | Persona 3 (Portable)

[personal profile] blazeoflife 2019-09-11 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Lucine/Jojo/Jo | [plurk.com profile] lucineblue
Character: Junpei Iori
Canon: Persona 3 Portable, about a month after the end of the game.
Age: 17
Bio Blurb: Wiki here!
Junpei is your average Japanese teenage boy, pining for a girlfriend, being terrible at school work and being nice to new transfer students, who one night while going to the convenience store at midnight finds himself SURROUNDED BY COFFINS WHERE PEOPLE WERE AND EVERYTHING IS DARK AND COVERED IN BLOOD??? WHA?? So obviously, he freaks the hell out and is 'crying like a baby' (his own words), when Akihiko Sanada, a senpai from his school finds him.

There he finds out that he now has an ability called 'Persona' that can let him summon a being known as Hermes from his mind (by shooting himself in the head with a magic gun, it's weird) and can help a school club known as SEES fight monsters called Shadows in a mysterious hidden Hour known as 'The Dark Hour' between one day and the next. Also his school turns into a Tower called Tartarus during the Dark Hour and stretches super high up into the sky and is just FILLED with Shadows.

So. OBVIOUSLY HE SAYS YES. He moves right away into the SEES dorms and starts helping to fight shadows. Over time there, he deals with jealousy to the main character, who's chosen as leader over him (despite being a girl-- which he PROMPTLY gets told off for saying by Mitsuru and never brings it up again) and her amazing powers. He eventually becomes attracted to a girl named Chidori who seems to be quite closed off, telling her all about SEES's work but placing himself as the leader instead of the game protagonist. This leads to him being kidnapped by her as she actually works for an enemy group that doesn't want the Dark Hour to end (cause they use it to commit assassination hits for money to pay for the drugs they need to suppress their manifactured Persona), and thus needing to be rescued by the team. Chidori is put in the hospital, both to keep her safe and to keep her under lock and key, but Junpei still visits her during this time, nearly every day, giving her a sketch book to draw in and flowers to cheer her up, trying to help her deal with her issues dealing with her health, her unfortunate issues with self injury and her beserker Persona.

Eventually, she gets pulled back into Strega, the enemy team as she comes to fear the connection she's developed with Junpei, as she now fears dying because she has something to actually lose. Junpei, despite this, still believes in her, promises to protect her and keep her from her old team mates who only seek to use her for her navigational powers. Unfortunately, he is then shot point blank by Takaya, her team leader, just when he finds the resolution to stand by her side no matter what. Chidori sacrifices herself to revive him, as she has the power to heal wounds, giving him her Persona's power and dying in the process. After nearly burning Takaya up for mocking Chidori's death with his newly powered up Persona (with some of Chidori's healing powers), Junpei finds the resolution to become the man Chidori drew in her sketch book, and matures into a more calm, reliable team member, no longer focused on just being a Hero, but wanting to be a loyal, true friend to the game protagonist and to do good in the world.

Personality Blurb: Cheerful, friendly and a bit obnoxious all are good words to describe Junpei at a glance. The teen has the strong desire to be the life of the party and the class clown, keeping a smile or smirk plastered on his face while he tells a joke to try and make you laugh. He has a habit of trying to play up his own bravery and bravado, being a 'ladies' man' whenever a cute girl is around, and playing the brave hero when faced with danger.

At least, that's what he wants you to think about him, because it's a whole lot easier than letting someone know what's really inside. In reality he's struggling with his own self confidence and self worth. Dealing with an alcoholic, abusive dad and no mom in sight, the kid has some issues that he covers up with bravado. He thought that getting his Persona would help him become a Hero, but quickly learned that even with a super power, he was totally average and boring when compared to everyone else in his group. He ended up with some jealousy issues and tended to rush into things without thinking, and opening his mouth about his team's secret activities when he shouldn't.

All the same, when it really matters he actually very thoughtful, street smart (genre savvy?) and has a compassionate heart. He realises the female protagonist is having creep shots taken of her in gym class and goes out of his way to hunt perpetrator down and walk the protagonist home to keep her safe. He really cares for the game's protagonist and his friends in SEES, and his kindness is what finally reaches out to his girlfriend Chidori to break her from her despondent shell. After she sacrifices herself to save him, he becomes far more serious and mature, able to recognize his own short comings and moving past them and truly becomes the loyal, steadfast friend he was always meant to be.

Preferred Essence(s):

The Prince - East of the Sun, West of the Moon
Ability to turn into a bear, progressively getting to a stronger version, and maybe having a weakness to both trolls and sleeping potions? Maybe able to produce riches by himself?

Other possibilites:

Hermes - Greek Mythology
A little on the nose, considering his first Persona was Hermes, him having him as an essence would be hilarious, though I havent thought too deeply about his powers other than those flying sandle things.

Apollo - Greek Mythology
Thought about it due to his sunny personality, but it kinda focuses more on his skirt chasing and bad luck with love, so not really something I want him to focus on/feel bad about? Tons of possibilities of neat powers though.

Other considerations: Aladdin? Due to their street smart-ness.

Looking For: Honestly? Something with a bit of subversion; a story with a Prince that needs to be saved by the girl/princess, or absolutely need to work with the other to succeed. I want Junpei to grow a bit more into being comfortable relying on other people, even though he can still hold his own. Basically him to get hyped up to be a prince like character only to go "wait, I'm the one who has to be save?!"

Appearance: He's always wearing a baseball hat to the point I think he feels naked without one. Noted for having short, buzzed cut hair and a bit of fuzz on his chin. I think sometimes depending on his feelings he just randomly gets bear ears/ can full on turns into a polar bear?

Abilities: Originally in his canon, he had very strong physical attacks, some fire magic, buffing magic and the ability to regen health. He really doesn't need to have these abilities; in fact I'd be cool if he lost the health regen and had to deal with realising it's gone. His original Persona is Hermes, while his final evolution becomes Trismegistus, who has the philosopher's stone in his beak, so maybe something could allude to that?

If he was the Bear Prince, obviously the power to turn into a bear. Hermes is... well, god-ish type powers associated with him, and same with Apollo.

Quirks: Maybe as the Prince acts a bit more regal, but also is terrified of Trolls and very weak to sleeping potion/spells/good night tea.

Goal: To finally play this idiot boy somewhere fun with my friends! And have him grow a bit more after his canon finishes.

Extra: I LOVE YOU GUYS

Varian | Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure

[personal profile] sonrises 2019-09-14 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Satyr | [plurk.com profile] dolewhip
Character: Varian
Canon: Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure (Post-Season 1 finale, probably)
Age: 15 (By his current canon point. He was 14 in his first appearance.)
Bio Blurb: (Wiki)
Varian is a teen alchemist, in a canon where alchemy is more closely aligned with chemistry than anything else. When he's first introduced, he's an ally who helps Rapunzel with her re-grown hair and befriends the princess, Eugene, and - eventually - Cassandra, who he develops a crush on. It's revealed that Varian's work with alchemy and science are rooted in trying to help the village of Old Corona, of which his father is the leader - but his over-eagerness means these attempts often end in disaster. In his next appearance, Varian has created an invention that produces a mineral of his own discovery - he also mentions to Rapunzel and Cassandra that "spiky rocks" have started cropping up in Old Corona. The two women explain that they found these rocks a while back, themselves, and that they were the catalyst for Rapunzel's hair returning. Rapunzel tells Varian to keep this a secret, and assures him that the three of them can figure out the secret of the rocks.

However, the rocks continue to spread and threaten to ruin Old Corona village. Varian takes matters into his own hands, working with alchemy to try getting rid of the rocks, against his father's wishes. However, Varian has seen Quirin - his dad - fail to bring up the issue with the King of Corona, and feels there is no other way. These experiments ultimately result in a strange chemical reaction that leaves Quirin encased in amber due to a move to protect his son. Varian's relationship with Quirin has always been complicated - he looks up to the man, and wants to make him proud, but doesn't feel his father understands him. Still, he's predictably distraught over his father's fate, and seeks help from Rapunzel. Unfortunately, the timing is all wrong - there's a horrible blizzard threatening Corona, and Rapunzel must put the needs of all Corona's subjects over Varian's needs - and fairly so.

However, this feels like a betrayal to Varian, who is dragged off by the guards during his desperate pleas. Varian sets a scheme in motion to retrieve the remains of the healing flower that first gave Rapunzel her powers, believing it's the only thing that can save his dad. He convinces Rapunzel to help him - but when he realizes that the flower's magic is now in Rapunzel's hair, Varian turns to full-on villainy. He kidnaps the Queen of Corona to lure Rapunzel and use the Queen as a bargaining chip to get Rapunzel to help him. When her hair doesn't do the trick, either, Varian positively snaps. Using an automaton of his own creation, he attacks Rapunzel and her allies, essentially deciding that if he can't be happy, neither can the princess who "wronged" him. Rapunzel is able to stop him, of course, and Varian is arrested, though the King assures Rapunzel that he'll be helped while imprisoned. Varian, for his part, is still determined to make his father proud - at any cost.

Personality Blurb:
Varian is, simply put, a mess. When he's first introduced, he's an overeager, awkward, but well-intending teen who just wants to help others, prove his worth, and - most of all - make his father proud. He scoffs at magic, gets excited easily, and his social skills are lacking, but there's no denying that the boy is brilliant. He just needs to look at the big picture and consider the full consequences of his actions. However, as the series goes on, and misfortune comes into Varian's life, we see that he can be malicious and conniving. Loyalty is important to Varian, but he's a kid who expects too much from that. Just as he's easily excited, he's also quick to anger and jump to conclusions.

It's worth noting that Varian won't be all-out villainous in FT, because he doesn't feel anyone here has hurt him or wronged him. However, while he'll be closer to his old self, he'll still be guarded and bitter.

Preferred Essence(s): I don't have a strong preference here, yet, but the idea of Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk could work, as suggested by LWP. In the original fairytale, there's nothing especially villainous about the giant Jack steals from and ultimately kills. He just feels his needs are more important than the giant's, which is... Very fitting for Varian. But I'm super open to other ideas!

Also, man, Daedalus would work extremely well - lost a family member, vindictive, and an inventor - but I'm not sure if that'd potentially be an issue, because Della has Icarus as an essence, and I don't want to monopolize that myth, ha!
Looking For: Again, super open to other ideas, especially characters who go from "good to bad" to serve their own needs, but still have some moral grayness to them. Also, Varian is extremely bright and clever, so essences with those traits are great!

Appearance: Link. Changes to his appearance will depend on essence chosen, but for Jack, it'd probably just be a wardrobe change.

Abilities: If I do go with Jack, he'll likely gain the ability to grow and/or heal plantlife, which would be deliciously ironic.

Quirks: For Jack, I can see him getting a case of "sticky fingers" with valuable items, not understanding why he's compelled to steal.

Goal: Despite having a very mixed reaction to the Tangled series, I love this character, and I especially love the idea of him growing as a person and eventually being able to accept that what he did was wrong - there's an interesting group of characters in this game that could take that in all sorts of directions!

Character: Lea
Canon: Post KH3
Age: Mid 20s? Unless you're a major character you don't get an age in this series okay
Bio Blurb: (optional: Wiki.)

Personality Blurb: TLDR: loyal as heck hothead with a love of throwing sharp objects at things. And also fire, but mostly his friends and stopping his friends from being stupid idiots who go and get themselves killed or possessed. It's alarming how often that happens.

Preferred Essence(s): I'm thinking maybe Gerda from the Snow Queen whose whole story is about going to rescue her friend from the evil witch who basically turned him heartless. The aesthetic is so not him it's hilarious, though.
Looking For: I'm open to suggestions! Rainbow Crow was suggested, but I'm open to any other loyal dorks (fire theme optional).

Appearance: I'm not super sure yet, it's not like Gerda's given much of an aesthetic other than "probably Scandanavian". I may steal from Frozen. Rainbow Crow could make him blindingly brightly colored which would be amazing with his hair.

Abilities: Probably still got some fire powers (Gerda does melt Kai's heart, after all) but otherwise I am not super sure.

Quirks: No clue. Gerda doesn't really have much of a personality aside from "plucky and stubborn young girl" which...Lea is already stubborn?

Goal: NOT BEING A GRUMPY JERK SO I CAN INTERACT WITH MORE PEOPLE also giving Roxas hell. Sorry not sorry bro
Extra: I have another KH possibility, but it's Ienzo and he's a bit harder to work with. Throwing Lea up here rn to see if his ideas click better.

Player: Satyr | [plurk.com profile] dolewhip
Character: Phineas Flynn
Canon: Phineas and Ferb (Post-"Last Day of Summer")
Age: ~11
Bio Blurb: (Wiki.)
Phineas and his brother, Ferb, always enjoyed thinking outside the box, but early one summer, an idea struck: to build a rollercoaster, the likes of which their hometown of Danville had never seen. Thus began a summer of wild adventures, where Phineas, Ferb, and their friends did at last one amazing thing every day. They invented the impossible, traveled around the world over the course of the Summer Solstice, teamed up with superheroes, and sang a lot of songs!

Personality Blurb:
Phineas is, at his core, just a kid. Sure, he's probably a literal genius, and his creativity is surpassed only by his positivity, but he's still very much a young boy in how he sees the world around him: full of possibilities. He's innocent, if not oblivious and occasionally shortsighted. He gets mad and sad, but it's not a common thing - especially the former. When Phineas gets angry, it's a sure sign that the stakes are high. And while Phineas sets his sights on unbeliavable goals, he's equally enchanted by the simple things in life. Give him his family, his friends, a pet platypus and a sunny day... Phineas will be happy, and he'll hope others will be, too.

Preferred Essence(s): I've narrowed it down to two...ish.
One idea is to give Phineas the essence of Santa Claus. The big Phineas and Ferb Christmas special highlights how Phineas looks up to Santa as a hero, because he does so much in just one night, making the most of it, and because of how he spreads joy.
The other idea (which I like a little more, I think!) is to go with a classic cartoon character. Specifically, I'm looking at Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Felix the Cat. In their classic cartoon appearances, both characters had the same pluck, optimism, and ability to improvise to solve problems that Phineas has. Oswald has the added bonus of having invented things in the Epic Mickey video games, although those games came out well past the '50s. Also, I know more about Oswald than Felix.
Looking For: Upbeat and positive characters who are quick thinkers. Inventors are a huge bonus!

Appearance: He's a triangle! Actually, he's a pointy letter P. Not sure about any essence changes, I'll probably keep him like that, just with a mild wardrobe change if I go with Santa Claus.

Abilities: Phineas himself doesn't have any lose-and-regain type abilities. For essence-gained abilities, I'm not totally sure? Probably some kind of Bag of Tricks if I went with Felix, although I haven't a clue how I'd do that. A similar concept would work for Santa, of course! Oswald... I'm not sure at all.

Quirks: Probably going to skip this, but feel free to hit me with ideas!

Goal: I've really been drawn to the idea of playing this character who, while not one-note or flat, is generally very positive and just wholesome. He doesn't have baggage. He's just a kid. And I love that idea, and Phineas is the sort of character who'd love to restore the stories.
Extra: So obviously this is me looking at an alternative to Varian.

Gobo Fraggle | Fraggle Rock

[personal profile] gobetween 2019-09-22 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Zumi | [plurk.com profile] zumidotexe
Character: Gobo Fraggle
Canon: Fraggle Rock, post-series
Age: ....Uh. Young adult...ish...?
Bio Blurb: (Wiki)

Gobo is a Fraggle, a race of small (18-22 inch high) creatures known for their individualism, ability to pull music from anywhere, and general attitude of fun and games being the best part of life. Oh and their thirty minute work week.

In particular, Gobo himself is an explorer. He's mapped just about every inch of his homeground caverns that make up Fraggle Rock, and at the end of the series is implied to be about to embark on the same for Outer Space- the Fraggles' term for the human world.

Personality Blurb: At his heart, Gobo is a true and loyal friend, well able to support just about anyone he considers his circle- or, well, anyone honestly. He tries to see the good in most people, and rarely makes enemies. While at the start of the series he was a little unsure and uncertain of himself, by the end of it he was a stalwart, capable Fraggle. Quite frequently he was the "straight man" to his group's more insane antics, which would lead to some interesting situations.

On the other side, Gobo is also rash, foolhardy, and cocky to a fault, particularly as he gained confidence in himself. He'll often push into things without thinking, stuck on his own path even when others advise him differently; this would lead to the almost-destruction of Fraggle Rock on more than one occasion, when Gobo's Way of Doing Things upsets the natural balance. He'll always come around in the end though, even if he's got to get a knock in the head to make him see sense.

Preferred Essence(s): Right now I'm thinking about three different Essences-

Hermes: Greek god of travellers, commerce, tricksters, roads, athletes, and about a dozen other things. His aspect of travel and direction will fit for Gobo, as well as his ability to smoothly go between realms, which aligns with Gobo being one of the few Fraggles to freely go between Fraggle Rock and Outer Space. His trickster attitude also fits for Gobo, who's definitely used his intelligence to outwit people to get his way.

Terpsichore: Muse of the Dance, associated with lyres and plectrums (think guitar picks, though also applicable to any stringed instrument). To be honest this is almost entirely for the music aspect, particularly as she's said to be the mother of the Sirens. Gobo himself also plays a guitar, so the plectrum emblem fits in damn well, as well as a Fraggle's general propensity to sing and dance at the drop of a hat.

The Brave Little Tailor: See the aforementioned "trickster at large" under Hermes. This would also suit his general ability (or need) to be on top of things, and thinking ahead of other people. Or attempts thereof.

Looking For: Honestly, pretty open to anything! Associations with music, travel, or bravery are a plus.

Appearance: Gobo is... decidedly not human. He's short (about the size of a medium dog), furry, orange, and topped off by violently fuschia hair. To say nothing of the tail, or that he doesn't wear shoes or pants (...what is it with me and picking short fluffballs who don't wear pants..?).

As for changes from Essences, his whole outfit likely wouldn't shift much since he kinda dresses like an explorer anyway, though I did have a single idea of winged anklets if I picked Hermes. Which would be appropriately difficult to control at first, so people might get binged in the head by a furry thing that just slingshotted himself across the street.

Abilities: Gobo himself doesn't have many abilities, at least not active ones. Like all Fraggles he can spontaneously break into song with appropriate music generated by his surrounding itself (he can also seemingly summon his guitar just because he needs it), can share dreams with anyone so long as their heads are touching when they sleep, and has some minor inter-dimensional abilities, though this last one seems more a property of Fraggle Rock than Fraggles themselves. There's definitely something undeniably magic about them though, it's just hard to put one's finger on what.

For Essences, something music-related would be top of the heap. It's unlikely he'd weaponize it since Fraggles themselves aren't much for fighters (their last war, until the episode "Fraggle Wars" anyway- which Gobo wasn't even in -was so far back that most of the populous had forgotten what the word "war" even meant), but he'd definitely make for a good Support role. Perhaps healing through song, or bolstering others' abilities?

The ability to travel long distances in a short time would also be an interesting one to play with, perhaps even through the underearth of the Index itself. Perhaps also something involving luck or wits (this would probably be the Tailor's) in that he can get out of just about any scrap with almost supernatural ability.

Other than those, definitely open to suggestion!

Quirks: Nothing in mind here, so open for suggestion here too!

Goal: I'd like to play more with Gobo interacting with Silly Creatures (the Fraggles' word for humans, which is a compliment since Fraggles love silliness), since the series didn't go into that all that much, and neither has supplemental material. I want to expand his horizons, and have him learn about more cultures than just his, other than through the extremely biased postcards from his like-explorer uncle. Fraggle Rock, the show, was all about inter-culture relations, and I want to do more with this because MAN could that go places in an RP setting.
Extra: Have a catchy song of Gobo's because I can't think of anything else to put here

CORIANDER BLISS | OC

Player: Gray | [plurk.com profile] graygriffin
Character: Coriander Bliss
Canon: Original, post-story
Age: 15
Bio Blurb: Just a normal girl whose family owned a bakery until she and three other kids (plus one adult) got chosen one summer to save two colliding worlds, by a respected researcher from said other world of both high technology and magic. Cori's grandmother had always believed in magic, and had many secret chants that supposedly made their food taste extra-special and gain special abilities. With the collision of worlds, these magical chants could now actually work, to her mother's great shock. She also gained the ability to summon a talking mushroom named Fern, a curious and playful creature despite her deadly poison abilities. She mostly got along with the rest of the group upon meeting them, although the adult of the group constantly tried to act as if he was in charge while sharing little of what he knew with the others. She would eventually end up dating Kenta, one of said companions.

Said adult eventually ended up possessed by the one behind the collision, the newly emerging God of Glitches. He managed to play himself off as a helpful presence for a long time, with even his replacement, a young man from the other world, not realizing his true nature. Said God had also sponsored a different group of five in an attempt to create rivalry between the two groups, but in the end all but one of them joined Cori's side, including Viktoria, the daughter of a rival bakery who also ended up dating her and Kenta. The last rival ended up mindwiped into a puppet for his loyalty, being used against them in the final battle. It was a harrowing fight, but the group managed to unlock the ability to empower their summoned creatures to their full potential, and both defeat the God and free the man being controlled by them. They also chose, in the end, to fix the gap between worlds in order to permanently seal the Glitch God, though they were promised that the different worlds would find some way to meet again.

Personality Blurb: By default a cheerful girl who would rather befriend others than fight and tries to keep the peace between everyone, she has picked up a lot more aggressive tactics from that summer of combat. She actually also has a natural sadistic streak that she's become more willing to let out, and has no compunctions about fighting dirty against a stronger opponent. She's deeply protective of her loved ones, and would do anything to keep them safe, often worrying about them over herself.

Thanks to the trickery of the Glitch God, she has little patience for people who betray her trust, and is a lot more suspicious about people who hide their identity. While she's willing to try and befriend anyone, she's far less likely to reach out again if her friendship is abused.

Preferred Essence(s): The Second Wife, Gold-Tree and Silver-Tree
Looking For: Any other female character with a ruthlessly protective streak, but Second Wife fits Cori really well

Appearance: She gets no physical descriptions, so I guess maybe just a crown/fancy dress for the "princess" part?

Abilities: Ability to break curses on others, ability to detect threats to her loved ones, ability to turn back other people's deadly powers on themselves

Quirks: She's already poly but maybe heightened curiosity/more willingness to defer to seniority

Goal: Have fun with the whole "fixing fairytales" theme of the game
Extra: Can't think of any right now

Anya | ANASTASIA

[personal profile] alexandraschin 2019-10-01 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Ama | [plurk.com profile] pyreflies
Character: Anya (full name: Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova)
Canon: post-ending.
Age: 18
Bio Blurb: Wiki

The Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna, along with the rest of the royal family, was attacked in 1916 when Anastasia was just 8 years old. With the help of a young kitchen boy, she managed to escape the palace with her grandmother, Dowager Empress Marie Feodorovna Romanova, but the train they were using to escape was taking off before Anastasia had the chance to properly board. Reaching out for her grandmother, whose hand was extended, Anastasia ended up falling and hitting her head. This, along with the trauma of the experience, caused Anastasia to completely forget any memory of her life up until that point.

Somewhere down the road, she was taken in by an orphanage, and went by the name Anya. Ten years pass and, at 18, she leaves the orphanage and heads to Saint Petersburg with nothing but a necklace that reads 'Together in Paris' to tie her to her past. During the beginning of her journey to her past, she encounters a young man named Dimitri. Unbeknownst to her, he is a con man holding auditions for any young, red-headed young woman to play the part of the real Anastasia so he can claim the reward money. He manages to convince Anya that she just might be the real Grand Duchess Anastasia, and, figuring she's got nothing to lose, she goes with him and his friend, Vlad, to meet the Dowager Empress in Paris.

Once in Paris, she is scheduled to go through the Empress' cousin, Sophie, to almost act as a filter to keep all of the fakes from meeting the Empress. Up until this point, Dimitri has prepared Anya with all of the questions he figures they'd ask her, but Sophie asked a very obscure question that he had not prepared her for. How did she and her grandmother escape the palace? The fact that Anya answered correctly made Dimitri, who was the kitchen boy that aided them in their escape, realize that this Anya was, in fact, the Grand Duchess Anastasia. She then, of course, finds out that Dimitri was a con man, which added some drama between them. But he was determined to reunite her with her grandmother and was very successful.

Anyway! To shorten this getting-too-long blurb: Anya finds out Dimitri did not accept the reward money, she ends up killing the Big Bad (Rasputin - who has been setting traps throughout her journey to have her killed), and it all ends quite happily with, what her grandmother describes as "a perfect beginning".

Personality Blurb:
Anastasia is an emotionally strong, streetsmart, and fiercely independent character. Living in an orphanage with a number of other children has taught her to be tough and take no nonsense from anybody (especially boys). But it also taught her to be a loving support system to those younger than her.

Underneath this 'tough guy' lies a naivete; the vulnerabilities generated by her past (or lack thereof) can make her easily trusting. Though, she tends to mix those qualities with her determination and sheer will. There's a fire in Anya that is eternal. She is an extremely passionate young woman with a dose of confidence and a healthy temper. She utilizes sarcasm as a defense mechanism and knows how to teach people how she'd like to be treated - even if that means showing off her rude side to get the point across.

Yet when it comes to the important things (like finding out who she is once and for all), she lacks an ego and isn't afraid to accept help from those who offer.

Preferred Essence(s): Pippi Longstocking! Pippi is known for her superhuman strength at such a young age. I view this as a metaphor for Anastasia, who has been through a lot. I think the fact that they're both red-headed is kind of cool too and probably something I could play with (see below: Appearance)
Looking For: Totally open to any other ideas! Pippi was one that drew me in, but input is always welcome.

Appearance: Anya's a red-headed Russian woman with big eyes, thick eyebrows, and a slim frame. She isn't drawn with freckles in the film, but I assume she has light ones. I think it'd be kind of funny if the freckles along her nose become more pronounced when she gets angry though.

Abilities: Anya may be a fighter, but she doesn't actually have any physical fighting skills. She isn't proficient in using any sort of weapons, she's mortal, and the only 'magical' thing about her may be her singing voice.

Quirks: Not sure yet! That's something I'd like to think about / discuss :D

Goal: I think I could do a lot with Anya here. I'm in love with the setting and I'd love for her to get to a point where she finds herself exploring herself through the setting. Getting put into an unfamiliar world with unfamiliar faces is actually not... a totally unfamiliar thing for her. It would be an exaggerated version of her experience with the orphanage. She'd adapt to her new surroundings, not be afraid to become acquainted with anyone, and she'd be living out several scenarios and stories. It's a concept she's all too familiar with (growing up without toys makes you find a playground in your mind) - only she will actually be doing it.

Gwendolyn | Odin Sphere Leifthrasir

[personal profile] lifleifthrasir 2019-10-19 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Rayne | raynestorm#0430
Character: Gwendolyn
Canon: Post game
Age: appears to be late teens, early 20s
Bio Blurb: Wiki Link. A princess of the kingdom of Ragnanival, whose leader Odin is on a furious conquest to obtain ultimate power over the world of Erion. A Valkyrie known as Odin's Witch, Gwendolyn fights in her father's army as a general, determined to win his affection by claiming victories in his name. Inheriting a magic psypher spear from her dying sister Griselda only adds fuel to that desire. But somewhere along the way, she's unknowingly caught up in her father's schemes. She ends up disgraced and exiled from her homeland, put under a love spell, and worst of all--!

Married to the enemy.

Personality Blurb: Princess and soldier. For Gwendolyn, these two roles are inexplicably intertwined. When speaking to the other rulers in Erion, for example, she makes a point to be courteous, bowing and kneeling as protocol and etiquette would ask for, even in high stress situations when she is endangering her life by speaking to certain rulers. Not to say that she neglects her subjects! She shows them courtesy as befits the class difference, never abusing her status, and as such is well-received by them in turn, enough that many would be concerned for her well-being during the heat of battle. And yet, for all this courtesy, Gwendolyn is not to be underestimated. In Erion, lineage is a powerful factor of influence in every country, and even when she was exiled from Ragnanival, she knew the worth of hers. She expects to be heard and respected, adamantly speaking her mind with a razor sharp tongue when she's displeased, insulted, or unfairly wronged. Much like her father, she is not afraid to start a fight for what she believes is worth the battle. This is a woman who has lived and breathed the court life for years, who knows how to be be a true and proper princess as well as how to wield her status and power to her advantage if she needs to.

But in the war-torn lands of Erion, where King Odin has waged multiple wars to obtain ultimate power, a loyal soldier is arguably more important than a princess. And there are none in Ragnanival more loyal to the king than the Valkyries. For these women, fighting is as natural as the pulse of blood under their skin, and it is this sisterhood's innate dedication and drive that is the source of Gwendolyn's ferocity in battle and her beliefs. It's an intrinsic part of her identity, makes her a force to be reckoned with. But it can also mean a one-track mind, and in this vein she embodies the best and worst of qualities a Valkyrie can possess: beauty that can be seen as cold and deadly, devotion that can turn blind, and a strong will that can become unyielding stubbornness. So too can she have the Valkyrie's narrow-minded definitions of what can constitute happiness, honor, and freedom, seeing the future end of her time as a Valkyrie as the beginning of an unhappy rest of her life, since Valkyries unable to serve are married off to live "under the thumb of a man" who see them only as objects and child-bearers.

And yet, for all of that, Gwendolyn is also much different than a normal Valkyrie. Where other Valkyries would fight to stay in the battle for their independence, she is compelled to do so in the hopes that she might win her father's affection. Gwendolyn in actuality has a gentle, kind soul; she possesses a sensitive nature that has struggled with an inferiority complex for a very long time, mostly due to the fact that her father has never shown her any affection since she was born. Nothing else, save her love for her sister, is quite as deep as her desperate desire for Odin's attention. It has driven her to do a great number of things for him and in his name: throwing herself towards death on the battlefield in true Valkyrie fashion, wearing her deceased mother's dress to remind him of her...and most poignantly, allowing herself to be branded a traitor and being punished with the loss of her independence, so that she might save her half-sister that her father so obviously loved.

This willingness to put others before herself is part of the Gwendolyn who exists separate from her family legacy and the shadow of her father's indifference-- the Gwendolyn who is simply Gwendolyn and nobody else. This Gwendolyn can be seen in her close friendship with her attendant Myris, who she confides to despite how Myris is seen as inferior to other races. She can be seen in the woman who can't wait for things to be resolved, but instead takes matters into her own hands, and in the woman who has a hard time expressing her true feelings. Gwendolyn has lived with so many other labels and identities for so long that she hasn't been able to show or even know much of her real self, much less act on them in the way she sees fit. It isn't until she meets her husband Oswald that she's able to learn how to exist for someone other than her father, even for someone other than Oswald himself-- by the end of the game, Gwendolyn is like a baby bird, bumbling forward, but living in the way she wants to live, flying toward her own desires and what her heart is telling her to do.

Preferred Essence(s): Since Oswald, her husband, is listed as Hades, it's only natural she could come in as Penelope. I was also debating giving her the essence of Odette, from Swan Lake.
Looking For: Open to suggestions.

Appearance: [x] An elegant woman with long silver hair, and dark blue eyes. Completely human in appearance, aside from the large blue-purple wings at her hips. Usually she's in armor and keeps her hair up.

If I go with Persephone as her essence, she would turn into a walking garden, with flowers growing off of her and trailing in her wake. I'd also want to incorporate some underworld elements so...maybe "dark" flowers instead of spring flowers, like spider lilies and poison ivy? If I go with Odette, the bird imagery she already has would increase! Feather crown and feather eyelashes and talons. Gwendolyn is associated with bluebirds in her canon, but maybe her feathers could turn white to reflect her essence as a swan.

Abilities: Gwendolyn would retain her fighting prowess and possibly her ability to fly with her wings, but her usual ice powers granted to her by her upbringing and psypher spear would be replaced. Persephone magic would be plant based, of course. But she's also known to carry out curses onto the souls of the dead, and she's technically a guardian of the underworld like her husband, so perhaps some shadow/dark magic too? The ability to hex people? Odette magic would involve shapeshifting into a swan/bluebird for sure, but I'm also interested in the idea of giving her illusion magic (Odette/Odile dicotomy and how their forms aren't what they appear to be).

Quirks: Weather/temperature sensitivity for Persephone. Hatred of betrayal for Odette.

Goal: Giving her a chance to socialize and learn how to be herself, how to enjoy herself. Healthy relationships! Give her a new cause to fight for.
Extra: I'm a little rusty with her voice but she's probably the one I'll app first over my other choice, Naminé from Kingdom Hearts.

SUBJECT LINE: CHARACTER | CANON

Player: Rayne | raynestorm#0430
Character: Naminé
Canon: end of KH3
Age: 15-16 in appearance, about 2-3 in actuality
Bio Blurb: Wiki Link. An unusual girl who was brought into existence without a heart. She has memory manipulation powers, specifically over the memories of a boy named Sora. Lonely and desperate for friendship, she once tried to stop Sora from saving his friend Kairi. By replacing Kairi with her own self in his memories, Naminé was able to drastically impede Sora's journey to save the world. But her guilt and his forgiveness lead her to change her ways and find courage in the face of the people forcing her to torment Sora, and she afterwards dedicated herself to helping him.

Personality Blurb:

Weaknesses: Naminé was, in the beginning, nothing more than a blank slate when she was created, which made it easy for Organization 13 to use her as a means to their own ends. Locked away, bullied, emotionally abused, and sometimes even physically assaulted, she was barely treated like a Nobody, much less a person. So it's no surprise that she has a very low opinion of herself and has a lack of self-confidence. Even when she was freed from their grasp, she only ended up in the company of someone who detested what she was. For the approximately two years she existed, there were very few people who bothered to treat her as someone worth their time, and even the people who did usually only did it for the sake of what her powers could do for someone else. And this is on top of the fact that she's Kairi's Nobody-- "inferior" and not meant to exist. Even though she improved by the end of Kingdom Hearts 2, there was been too few people around her to tell her that she is important, just as she is, and the effects of her time before are still prevalent in body language and careful words, the inability to meet people's eyes right away, and hesitant pauses.

Compounding on her lack of self-confidence is her guilty conscience about what she did to Sora, Xion, and Roxas. Organization 13 had goaded her into luring Sora into a trap, and as lonely and desperate to be saved as she was, she went along with the ruse, manipulating Sora's memories and making herself falsely important to him, in the hopes that he would save her and be her friend. Later she would be the bearer of bad news to Xion and Roxas, when she needed them to return to Sora and essentially stop existing in order for her to fix his memories. There is very little that could be said is directly her fault, and yet Naminé is so close to the crux of all the issues, with her own powers causing more harm that good, that it's hard for her to see past her own faults and shortcomings. Given the chance, she'd be hard-pressed to come up with an example of what she's done aside from saving Sora, because the guilt spurring her to do so consumed most of her short life, and affected her so deeply, coloring everything she did with melancholy.

Which ties in with her last weakness, which is her lack of world experience. Naminé was never really allowed to live. Everything she knows is from what she's seen through Sora and others' memories. She's never been able to try to do things for herself, has never had the chance to enjoy herself, and this makes her, despite her run-ins with Organization 13, somewhat naive, innocent, and sheltered.

Strengths: There's no doubt that Naminé is gentle just by looking at her. Having been born from both Sora and Kairi, Naminé reflects some aspects of their personalities, the most of important of all being kindness and empathy for others. While she lacks their abundant enthusiasm, her soft-spoken ways are unique to her, and allow her to carry herself with grace despite what she's been through. Like a fairy princess, ready to offer benediction to any who encounter her, she has a quality of calm and warmth that seeks to comfort others in the best way that she can in their time of need. And that's usually through small gestures, through actions and helpfulness that she doesn't expect any reward or thanks for. She's unassuming, willing to listen, and had she been given the time and chance in her own world, she could have won over many people with her sweet demeanor.

Given what happened to her, though, her quiet strength of will is also important to mention. Despite her looks, she has courage equal in measure to her hero Sora. She rebelled against Organization 13 after she decided to help Sora, stood up to her biggest tormentor and the threat of death for his sake, and when faced with the gravity of her actions, she stepped up to the task to fix her mistakes even when it meant facing a friendless life once again. Her job could've been done after her year of repairing Sora's memories-- but Naminé went above and beyond even that, coming to Roxas and Kairi's aid on several occasions, and willingly returning to Kairi to make her whole after the battle against Xemnas had been finished. Naminé isn't afraid to follow her (supposedly nonexistent) heart and do what's right in spite of the danger. Really, the fact that she came into existence is a testament in and of itself, as Nobodies must have a certain amount of will and desire to retain a human form.

Above all else, by the end of the second game, the greatest strength she has is undeniably that she possesses a heart. It'd been believed that Nobodies couldn't be complete beings unless they used Kingdom Hearts, and that is part of the reason why Naminé returned to Kairi, because she believed it was right and saw no other option for herself. But in actuality, Nobodies are capable of forming their own heart as they gain self-awareness, and thus are capable of becoming their own person. Naminé, after all her struggles and small victories, certainly gained that self-awareness on her own. Unlike Organization 13's Nobodies, who only seek self-satisfaction and power, Naminé dedicated herself to helping her friends, and to being a better person than she'd been before. All her feelings are real, strong, her own-- and in the Kingdom Hearts universe, that's one of the most powerful forces in existence.

Preferred Essence(s): The girl no bigger than a bumble bee, the angel with a funny name: Thumbelina.
Looking For: None! I'm sure there are other stories that would suit her well or better, but I'm here to let her live a relatively happy life. That and I want to make Naminé tiny.

Appearance: Naminé is a petite young woman with ocean blue eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair she usually sweeps over her right shoulder. With an essence of Thumbelina, she would have very long hair that goes down to her calves.

Abilities: She would lose most if not all of her abilities she has as a Nobody. In exchange, she gets to talk to animals, and turn small whenever she wants to/whenever she feels strong emotions. I'm also debating giving her fairy wings.

Quirks: Tends to get lost very easily.

Goal: Making friends and enjoying her third lease on life, pretty much.
Extra: Leaning towards Gwen for my first character here, but Naminé is my second option! Also I'm sorry for the huge personality sections...I copy and pasted from old apps...
Questions: I'm taking a lot of inspiration from Don Bluth's Thumbelina movie...I hope that's okay...

Yosuke Hanamura | Persona 4

Character: Yosuke Hanamura
Canon: Persona 4 Golden
Age: 18
Bio Blurb: Wiki - Local disaster child of Inaba, token straight man of the Investigation Team, and resident Prince of Junes (no not a real prince).

Personality Blurb: I'm not good at blurbs so I'll try not to ramble. Yosuke is actually a reliable teen with a real bad habit of foot in mouth syndrome. He's nice and a bit of a perv, which is par for the course for those of the Magician Arcana but this also means he's a fantastic friend and will always have your back. He's also a bit of a nerd, judging by his personas (its a disco ninja frog and a robot sentei ninja thing I'm not kidding: here and here, lol Susano-o, Jiraiya, and Takehaya Susano-o in that order).

Preferred Essence(s): The Frog Prince or Aladdin, the Frog Prince is more in reference to both his "Prince of Junes" title in game along with his initial persona, Jiraiya. The second because Aladdin embodies the "thief/rogue" aesthetic and Yosuke is the basically that class in the game along with being the outcast in the town of Inaba, "riff-raff" if you will if you wanna go the Disney version route.
Looking For: Not looking for anything else mostly because I can't think of anything else, so I'm open to other ideas!

Appearance: Yosuke is more or less the "ordinary" one of the group, he recognizes he's mediocre compared to others so aside from his TV World glasses and the headphones he's constantly wearing, there isn't much that would be super notable. I suppose if he went the frog prince route, he'd get some frog abilities or something? :|a Aladdin wise, honestly he's as human as they come so. IDK HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT??

Abilities: His speed and agility is a physical thing so those are staying, regaining one of his many dual weapons (knives, wrenches, kunai, fish, corn on the cob, I'm not kidding.........), his Persona of course would be goals for him to regain. His magic that comes with his persona as he's the resident back up healer and kinda buffer/debuffer.

Quirks: This one's tough but I wanna have it add to his abilities that he has so maybe some parkouring that we see Aladdin do in various versions of his story, or maybe having the pickpocketing skills? If the Frog Prince, hm... it's been awhile since I looked into that story so I guess being able to stick to walls or something as a frog ability?

Goal: Have fun with the setting, honestly, see where it takes Yosuke in his development as a character since even in the spin-off games he recognizes he has a lot to learn and grow from!
Extra: I'm really sorry for not having any concrete ideas, I've honestly been vacillating for months now since I got the initial poke to try the game LOL But I'm open to anything and eager to try things out!

Also.

Makoto Tachibana | Free!

Character: Makoto Tachibana
Canon: Free!
Age: 18
Bio Blurb: He's from the Gay Swimming Anime, need I say more? (Wiki.)

Personality Blurb: He's a Good Boy who is also a Gentle Giant. Makoto was the captain of the Iwatobi Swim Club and his specialty was the Backstroke. He has since graduated high school and is currently going to college playing mom to Haruka Nanase. He's also kind of a scaredy-cat.

Preferred Essence(s): I actually have none in mind and was hoping to get some help? I know the obvious one would have been the Little Mermaid but that's taken but if anyone knows any other water related fairy tales?
Looking For: Water/Ocean related fairy tales, as mentioned above. Not really interested in anything too gore-y or involving death due to an event in his backstory. He's actually afraid of the ocean (and possibly water by extension) which is why I'm aiming for a story taking place Under Da Sea or something to that effect anyway.

Appearance: Nothing really notable normally, he's your average 18 year old Japanese boy who happens to be really tall for said Japanese boy, haha. Any changes per his essence would depend on whatever I choose, but probably nothing as drastic as I have with Yosuke and randomly going frog! (subject to change though, of course)

Abilities: Please let allow him to be a waterbender at least XD Anything else would depend on the essence chosen.

Quirks: Maybe something that might help him be a little braver? Nothing major but he already shows signs of thinking for himself and putting his foot down better, especially with his future, so I'd like to give him something to help with that. Of course I'm open to changing this!

Goal: Just wanna have fun with a character that's different than Yosuke!
Extra: I'm so sorry for how vague I'm being. Please allow this gif of the Goodest Swimmer appease you
