Game Notes #15: June 1, 2019

GAME NOTES #15: JUNE 1, 2019—

Meant to make one in the middle of May but Hyde happened and stuff IT'S FINE WE'RE FINE. Anyway, WELCOME TO ALL OUR NEWCOMERS!! We currently have seven new people (SEVEN!!) and I have heard there may be a few more still coming in, so whoo excitement! Although Public Registration is now closed, players are free to invite their friends who may be interested. We do not know when exactly we'll re-open registration again, but it wouldn't be until after the end of the next campaign.

We also have our Story Check in here, so be sure to check-in!

§ schedule

Here is our current prospective schedule:

MAIN SCHEDULE
6/08: Side Stories
Next Campaign is July
MOD NOTES SCHEDULE
6/22 - #16: will have campaign details
STORY CHECK SCHEDULE
6/01: Check-in

This is our last month of Break! We'll put up the Side Stories next week to give everyone a little more time to settle in. We're also open to any suggestions for the next campaign! We currently have 18 characters spread out over 16 players and we'll have to look at the numbers later again, but we may be ready for a medium sized story again! So if there's one that you think would work great with our current cast of characters and essences, please let us know!

§ story check: check-in

For our new players, this is our version of activity check, although a bit more lax, especially between campaigns like this. We're still going to do sweeps, however, so be sure to read what you have to do!

The time frame is from May 1st to May 31st. The Check ends on June 5th, 11:59PM CT, or sooner if everyone fills in quickly. Note: newly accepted players don't have to worry about this, but you can participate if you wanna just get a feel for things.

  1. ONE PROOF: a link to any thread or post you made during the Break period. Comment length doesn't matter.

  2. EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: Fill out the same form with "I'M STILL HERE" or something to that effect so you don't get swept! This option is available for those who took the Break as its given opportunity to completely check out and focus on other things! So we just want to know if you're coming back.

If you have any questions, ask them here.

Everyone use this form to comment under here! If you're just expressing interest to remain, put that in instead of a proof link.

Again, new players don't have to do this, but you're welcome to do so just for fun and practice!

§ welcome newbies + "intro log"

Once again we'd like to welcome all of our new players! We are very excited to have you join our little game and hope you enjoy your stay no matter how long or short that may be.

Although we have a designated Player Intro Log, there have been some inquiries about whether there will be an official character intro log. We debated on it, but we decided to let everyone make their own intros this time around, especially since we accepted everyone as they came instead of all at once and the TDM allowing for the Index prompt to carry over into game. However, there will be a character hosted party log that everyone is invited to and will be posted within the next couple of days, so you're free to use that as a semi-intro.

And just a reminder to all new players, don't forget to comment to all the appropriate pages! If you're wondering about your character tag, players need to manually type it out before it will appear on the lists. However if that still doesn't work ping us! We might have forgotten to add it to the list and we'll do it for you.

§ journal upgrade

Because I kept forgetting about this one With the influx of new Aspects coming into and leaving the Realm, the journal is getting a small upgrade. As a refresher, all journals are organized into tabbed sections, and in the last section used for communication, "Send Notes," there is now a directory that lists everyone currently within the realm. It's formatted with the character's name (or in some cases, what they're known by coughDisciplecough) and their essence next to it. Like so:

Rokurou Rangetsu (Huntsman; Red Riding Hood)

This list is sorted alphabetically and updated whenever someone enters or leaves the Realm. New people will be in bold for a few days before it returns to normal. People who have left will have their name struck out for the same amount of time before it disappears completely.

Now everyone will be able to keep track of each other. Huzzah.

§ side stories

As mentioned earlier, we do have side stories still planned, but we will be holding off for another week to allow new folk to settle in as well as allow a little more time for some. But we can go ahead and tell you which three with decided on!

  1. Momotarō
  2. Hickory Dickory Dock
  3. Atalanta

Bit of a varying spread this time around, but they should be pretty fun!

Another thing we'd like to let everyone know is that like last time we'll have a separate post up for all the prompts. But this time we'd like everyone to use the post for all prompts, kind of like an event log. Of course if anyone plans to make an open log they are free to still use the side stories in their logs, but we'd like to have the activity mostly centered in the main post!

One final note that we might as well throw in is we've made a new journal to post our event and campaign logs with: [personal profile] storyevents. How this name wasn't taken already I have no idea.

§ hollow christmas carol available for revisit

There won't be a designated post for it, but we're providing some setting details for players to freely use for their own posts or threads.

  • Segment Connection. To get to the restored Book, characters just have to take a ride on a horse drawn carriage across the Segment road connecting the Index to the Book. There will be Chess Knights standing guard on each end, but they will recognize the Aspects, especially those who helped in the story's restoration, and give access.

  • Locations. In terms of what places they are able to visit, it will mainly be the setting areas that was available during the campaign: the village and surrounding forest. Any attempt to go beyond the forest boundary will result in entering white mist and walking back into the forest towards the village. As for their conditions, everything is very lively with a strange split atmosphere of Halloween and Christmas. The outskirts of village, fields, church, and forest will have more of a "spooky Halloween" vibe, especially the graveyard and portions of the forest where a heavy fog is always around. The village itself is a lot merrier with that Christmas festive cheer. No snow, though there may be random days where some flurries blow past.

  • The Horsemen. The Headless Horseman and the Horsemen Ghosts (Christmas Past, Present, and Future) do exist. However the rumors and gossip around town is that the Headless Horseman is actually a bride and her ghostly form appears whenever relationships are running afoul, either as a warning or as punishment. The other Horsemen come and go, also as ghostly apparitions, but they tend to just give advice to those who may need them. Thus although not violent, should anyone want to fight any of them they would be happy to have a spar.

  • Threats. Erasers do come in sometimes, but currently the residents and stationed Knights are able to deal with most of them. Still, there is the occasional "big one" and help is always appreciated. There are no Blots now that the story is restored.

  • Rebuilding. Although everything is mostly fixed, there's still work to be done. Buildings still need repairs, food and supplies replenished. The Index is providing a lot of things so help in distribution or even creating new things will be appreciated.

  • Rising Dissension. Not everyone is happy with the new story. Whether it's the spirits of past characters now "rewritten" and reborn, or the refugees moving back in, many are at a loss. After all, this isn't the original story and is in fact a merger of two different ones. Thus while some are just happy to have a place to live again and willing to work with the new story, others are holding protests, resentment slowly building. What happened to the original "Sleepy Hollow" and "A Christmas Carol"? What are they supposed to think of this "new work"? Will they ever have their original stories again?

Hmmmm. Sounds like we may have some bumps to deal with in the future.

§ end notes

PHEW! That's all for the month, pretty much! If you have any questions, just ask them in the usual thread.
