Workshop #2: January 2019

Workshop #2: January 2019—

§ about.
Welcome to Forgotten Tales story character essence workshop! Here players can come together and discuss what storybook characters they are considering for their character's essence, their new potential abilities, and even ask for help if you can't think of anything on your own.

Here are some reminders about how this all works:

  1. Although not required, participation in the Workshop is highly recommended.

  2. Make sure to check the Character Roster and Essence List to see if your choices are not already taken.

  3. All characters will inherit characteristics and themes from a particular storybook character.

  4. Storybook characters can be from any work of literary fiction such as fairy tales, folklore, fables, nursery rhymes, classics, plays, mythos, legends, etc. They can be well-known or obscure, and origins must pre-date the 1950s.

  5. The essence doesn't necessarily have to match the character, just make sure you pick one that you can work with.

  6. Refer to the Abilities section to see how abilities work.

  7. Because the game currently doesn't allow duplicate essences, list your top preference and any others you're considering, but also be open for other suggestions. And if you see someone else list one you are considering, list it, anyway! Anyone could change their mind. Just don't be salty or badger anyone about their choice, otherwise it's an automatic boot out the door. The goal is to try to not only match the best essence to the character, but also one that people can have fun with.

  8. For a complete refresher, refer to the Character section of the Game Info.

  9. We have an accompanying Test Drive and Registration is always open.

  10. Feel free to hop into the Discord server for help and questions.

If you have any further questions about this or anything in general, comment to the Mod Thread.

§ form.
If you're ready, just fill out the following form and discuss away! One character per comment.

Player:
Character:
Canon: (and canon point)
Age: (of the character)
Bio Blurb: Just a quick blurb about the character so everyone can get a basic idea. Feel free to link a wiki and mention canon abilities in here.

Preferred Essence(s): Have one already in mind? List it here!
Looking For: What kind of storybook character would you be interested in? Things you're not interested in should also be mentioned.

Appearance: Any notable features both for the character in general and any appearance or style changes you may be considering for their essence.

Abilities: Whether you have an essence in mind or not, talk about what kind of abilities you're hoping to recreate or gain while in game. Any weapons that are going to be regained or explored?

Quirks: Are you interested in gaining any quirks of the storybook character? Or do you already have one already in mind? Need suggestions from your list?

Extra: Anything else you'd like to ask or talk about. Can be about the essences or just general ideas of what you'd like to hopefully play out.

Questions: Any other questions you might have.

Post away and go buzz about everyone else!

Oh my God please don't make Frog need to be smacked into the wall— ...Although you could work that in a way... Walls are his weakness LMAO. And while this isn't transformation, have you considered Mr. Toad? He's kind of the opposite of Frog since rather than knightly he's more rogueish, but I just thought it might be interesting if he was something different.

...I'm actually kind of ashamed I never even considered Mr Toad since Wind in the Willows was a big part of my childhood! ;o; Actually the thought of Frog reading up about Toad's reckless actions, narcissism and (to him) foreign interests/obsessions is kind of hilarious, I might have to look into that later! And Frog in a tweed suit, y/y

Also, I like the parallel of him being a village squire rather than a ye olde knightly one. XD Though now I can think of a few quirks he could pick up now, how do I choose one...

Yesss, go for it! I think it would be pretty interesting and you can play with more quirks and skills that would be different from Frog's usual kit!
