Workshop #5: April 2020

Workshop #5: April 2020—

§ instructions.

Welcome to Forgotten Tales storybook character essence workshop! Here players can come together and discuss what storybook characters they are considering for their character's essence, their new potential abilities, and even ask for help if you can't think of anything on your own.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

  1. Workshop participation is required for Registration as this basically takes the place of the traditional application form, as well as posting to the Test Drive. You don't have to post together at the same time (you can do one first and then the other), but they are needed eventually.

  2. Participation in the Workshop does not guarantee a spot on either Claims or Registration, but you will need it to keep a Claim so there's no harm in trying early. Feel free to look over previous Workshops.

  3. Make sure to check the Character Roster and Essence List to see if your choices are not already taken.

  4. The character and essence don't necessarily have to perfectly match, and all characters will inherit characteristics and themes from that particular storybook character. You are free to be creative and take elements from related works and variations (like Disney), but try to keep it central to the original version. Refer to the Character section of the Game Info as a refresher on how essences and their abilities work.

  5. Storybook characters can be from any work of literary fiction such as fairy tales, folklore, fables, nursery rhymes, classics, plays, mythos, legends, etc. They can be well-known or obscure, and origins must pre-date the 1950s.

  6. Because the game currently doesn't allow duplicate essences, list your top preference and any others you're considering, but also be open for other suggestions. And if you see someone else list one you are considering, list it, anyway! Anyone could change their mind. Just don't be salty or badger anyone about their choice, otherwise it's an automatic boot out the door. The goal is to try to not only match the best essence to the character, but also one that people can have fun with.

  7. Although you can only register one character, you can workshop multiple in case you are having difficulties in deciding who to pick.

  8. Public Registration will open May 3, but anyone with an invite and current players can register at any time. Claims will open April 26.

If you have any further questions about this or anything in general, comment to the Mod Thread.

§ form.

If you're ready, just fill out the following form and discuss away! One character per comment.

Player: Player ID w/ contact
Character: Character looking to bring in
Canon: (and canon point)
Age: (of the character)
Bio Blurb: Instead of a full written history, please link a wiki page AND provide a 1-2 paragraph summary of the character's backstory. If no wiki page is available, that's okay; you're free to link a write-up if you have one or feel like making one. The summary is more of an "at a glance" to help those not familiar to get a basic idea of who the character is and what they were doing in their canon. If it helps, pretend you're writing a blurb for a CR Meme. What key important things about your character's history would you want to point out to others?

Personality Blurb: You are free to link to anything pre-written such as an app for another game, but for our purposes you must include a 1-2 paragraph blurb highlighting the main elements of the character's personality. If it helps, pick out up to 5 vices and 5 virtues that you'd associate with them and just toss in a few sentences about it. Again, you can pretend you're writing a blurb for a CR Meme.

Preferred Essence(s): Have one or a couple already in mind? List them here! Include reasons why you are thinking about that particular essence and how you would work it with the character.
Looking For: Open to other ideas? What kind of storybook character would you be interested in? Things you're not interested in should also be mentioned.

Appearance: Any notable features both for the character in general and any appearance or style changes you may be considering to match their essence.

Abilities: Whether you have an essence in mind or not, talk about what kind of abilities you're hoping to recreate or gain while in game. Any weapons that are going to be regained or explored? What abilities or weapons are lost? Skills?

Quirks: Are you interested in gaining any quirks of the storybook character? Or do you already have one already in mind? Need suggestions from your list? A reminder that the current limit is one.

Goal: What do you hope to do while in game? This could range from just having fun with the setting to exploring new aspects of the character because of the setting.
Extra: Anything else you'd like to ask or talk about. Can be about the essences or just general ideas of what you'd like to hopefully play out.
Questions: Any other questions you might have.

Post away and go buzz about everyone else!

Barley Lightfoot | Onward

[personal profile] gwniver 2020-03-29 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Nyanka | [plurk.com profile] Nyanka
Character: Barley Lightfoot
Canon: Onward, before he goes to pick Ian up from school
Age: Approx. 19 years or so
Bio Blurb: (Wiki isn't that great, yet.) Contains some spoilers for the movie!

Once upon a time, Barley's world was full of magic and wonder... But magic was only available to people who were born with it and hard to master, so technology was invented and society moved on. Now his world looks a lot like a mix between our world, the 80's, and a D&D campaign.

Barley's dad died of terminal illness when he was a kid, leaving him to grow up with his mom and his younger brother. They did alright for a single parent family, but Barley never got closure from his dad since he was too scared of the hospital machines to say goodbye. Nevertheless, he carried on with his life- gaining an interest in the world that once was along the way. He's kind of hit a rut in his life post high school, and his loved ones would really appreciate it if he stopped thinking about the past (and his favorite RPG) and start thinking about his future.

Personality Blurb:
Barley is a rather bold person, always ready for to fearlessly take initiative. Unfortunately, his boldness is a double edged sword. He has a habit of not thinking through things before he does them, which has gotten him in trouble with the law more than once. It doesn't help that he's stubborn at times and always daydreaming about quests of yore- The past and the TRPG that was heavily inspired by the past. He's made so many mistakes people started thinking of him as a screw-up, a title he greatly resents.

Yet he's not trying to hurt anyone. He acts with the best intentions, be it protecting historical landmarks from being destroyed, not letting the past be completely forgotten, or looking out for his family. He encourages his brother in his own special way, and tries to be there for him when he needs it most. If he must choose between his own interests and the interests of his loved ones, his loved ones go first.

Preferred Essence(s): My first thought was Beowulf, but I'm open to suggestions.
Looking For: I know I want to pair Barley with the kind of character you'd find in the Hero's Journey structure, be it the Hero themself, the Trickster or the Mentor. This probably covers a really wide range... No wizards, though, that's Ian's thing.

Appearance: He's a blue elf who also looks like a nerdy frat boy. Has a celtic tattoo circling his upper left arm, and is seen with a cast on his right forearm.

Abilities: In canon, he doesn't really have any magic abilites. What he does have is knowledge on how fantasy tropes usually works based on his TRPG game and the past it was based on. He also knows how to McGyver an automobile together, seeing as he spent a lot of time working on his van, and it still functions despite being held together by duct tape and rope.

As for his essence, I would definitely give him the ability to fight with whatever weapon is associated with his essence. Like, maybe a sword for Beowulf. Again, open to suggestions.

Quirks: None that I can think of, this might change.

Goal: Two things: One, letting Barley experience a world like the one he's read about! The good and bad side, that is. Magic is nice, but he'll have to get used to the lack of modern conveniences like cassette players and gas stations. Second goal is for him to make some friends, and maybe even stumble upon a father figure of sorts.

Extra: I'm taking him from early canon so that I don't spoil anyone who hasn't seen the movie. After a month or so I plan to canon update.

Robert Small | Dream Daddy

[personal profile] whiskeydad 2020-03-29 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Gann | [plurk.com profile] redlionspride
Character: Robert Small
Canon: End of Game (bad ending) [this means he hasn’t spoken to his daughter, Val and he’s not with the Dadsona]
Age: 47
Bio Blurb: I'm going to take him from the point that he's had a few dates with the dadsona of the game but they didn't go well. Robert is estranged from his Daughter Val and there is a point where you can point hi towards contacting her and talking to her again. I'm taking him from a point that he's not done that.

Not only that but he's confronted the other guy for dating Joseph after he had warned him not to see him. Argues that Joseph is bad and will hurt him. So he's in a bit o a snit. He doesn't like Joseph and the main character has ran off to his arms instead of Roberts, so, fuck love. He's not with anyone and he hasn't spoken to his daughter at all. His life is a mess and not getting better.

(optional: Wiki.)

Personality Blurb: Dream Daddy is built up of different Dad Types. Robert is known as the “Bad Dad” Type, be it because he wasn’t the greatest father to Val, maybe, but mostly because he’s the bad boy stereotype. He has the whole leather jacket, sunglasses, smoking and knives thing going for him. He is sometimes known lovingly as the “Knife Dad” because he always has a knife on him.

Robert is a bit of a gruff and aloof widower who has a macabre sense of humor, a rebellious streak and a quick-witted mouth on him. His mouth gets him into some trouble, but for the most part he doesn’t care and can get himself out of that same trouble with a flick of a knife or a well aimed insult. His sense of humor will sometimes make people think he’s a bit sick or twisted in reality but mostly he’s joking.

He tends to make up stories for all occasions. Like on a date and trying to take over a tour group and making up a new name entirely and some crazy story to get the tourists attention. Or when he tries not to talk about serious things he will tell a story instead, sometimes making it hard to tell if its real or not. It’s easier than telling the truth, especially if it has anything to do with his past.

Which brings us to serious things. Robert is reluctant to talk about serious things, like his past, his wife and child, or his affair with Joseph. His past is a riddle we mostly don’t know about, but he has a tattoo on his hand that reminds him of his past. His Wife Marilyn died in a crash (headcanon: approximately 8 years ago), after being together for well over twenty years. When Val was about 18, give or take, she gave up on her father and left him to go to college. The two of them haven’t talked much since then. Robert is scared it’s too late to talk to her now.

Some things he’s into would be good music (He’s into Tom Waits), drinking whiskey, football, and a love for all things that are movies. He’s one of those types of people who will stay till the end of the credits not because of extras but because he wants to respect the art form and all the people who put effort into it. He’s very passionate about movies. Other things he likes? Coffee. Dogs. And most importantly, pineapple on pizza. You are a heathen to hate it.

In general, he’s not a bad guy just a tough guy with a soft spot. He might be called Bad Dad but he’s a loyal friend if you can get close to him. A good guy to have in a fight or just to hang out and drink with.

Preferred Essence(s): The Big Bad Wolf from the Three Little Pigs
Alt: Tin man or Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz
Looking For: I'm leaning more to the Big Bad Wolf and what it entitles, but if you think Tin man or Lion work better, give me some ideas. I do like the idea of him being in something that was a movie he would have liked, but I also enjoy the Essence idea i have for the BBWolf.

Appearance: Robert is about 6 foot tall, dark messy hair with salt and peppering going on. He's got a pretty good build for someone his age, and one could say he takes care of himself even though it's clear in the last few years he hasn't been. He tends to wear a red V neck long sleeve shirt under a leather jacket, jeans or cargo pants, boots and belt.

His essence is the Big Bad Wolf of the Three Little Pigs. He can shape shift into a very large wolf. Large teeth, yellow eyes, dark fur and loud howl. About the height of an average man when standing. He can still talk in this form, though his voice might be deeper.

As a man he will have pointed ear all the time and yellow eyes. He'll be scruffier than normal and a bit more hairy unless he shaves more.

Abilities: Shape shifting into a wolf. Tall and strong and fast. All natural wolf skills like scent and sight will be his. As well as appetite for meat. And because the big bad wolf Huffed and Puffed and blew down a few houses, this big bad wolf will have the North Wind on his side. Big and cold gusts of wind, able to blow houses down if not built strongly enough. Able to blow a person over, if not freeze them to the bone. A chilly breath of the north wind. In human form he can withstand cold better than most people, and sometimes you can see his cold breath even on a warm day.

Quirks: A craving for PORK. In any form. Can't get enough of it. And it is best when rare! "No, no! "Rare" implies dangerously cooked. When I say rare I mean just let it look at the oven in terror, then bring it out to me." as one wolf would say.

Goal: I want to get him out into the world and deal with being a story book character. He's going to like being a wolf though.
steadypulse: (But here we are)

[personal profile] steadypulse 2020-03-29 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm still happy over throwing the scruffier look at him- and I wasn't joking about maybe more "fur" along his spine and other points of his body and limbs to just pull together that whole scruff wolf-man sorta look.

Ain't no lie the man pulls off "scruffy wolf" tho.

Pyra(/Mythra/Pneuma) | Xenoblade Chronicles 2

[personal profile] iustaegis 2020-03-30 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Player: Jade | [plurk.com profile] drinksteapots
Character: Pyra/Mythra/Pneuma
Canon: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 + prequel
Age: incredibly old, appears about mid 20s
Bio Blurb: Pyra's wiki page. Mythra's wiki page. Pneuma's wiki page. Main plot of Xenoblade Choronicles 2, but if that's too much, here is the shortened Aegis plot wiki page!

Eons ago, the Pneuma core crystal existed as a part of a triumvirate entity called the Trinity Processor, along with Ontos and Logos. They behaved as a collective mind, and they existed to monitor and regulate this entity called the Conduit, which is Xeno-series' multi-fold-dimensional, perfect eternal energy god. The Trinity Processor, linked to the Conduit, functioned like immune cells to the body that is the Conduit, protecting it and using its power to create and generate weapons, shields, and energy. Universe 1.0 got nerfed by someone tapping into the Conduit. Creation began anew under the Architect (new god) and the Trinity Processor. In the primordial stages of this new universe, Ontos split from the Trinity by triggering a space-time event and vanished, leaving the burden to rebuild and monitor the universe 2.0 along with regulating the Conduit to Logos and Pneuma. For "untold millennia", as it's said in canon, the two remaining of the Trinity Processor had all evolutionary data and pressures relayed back to them as the world formed and grew, eventually forming humans once more.

Fast forward to the prequel, and the Pneuma core crystal was stolen down to the earth, who was then awakened by a prince. The awakening imprinted the crystal with the bare bones of humanity. This aspect of the crystal began to refer to herself as Mythra. The events of the prequel took place, and Mythra slowly became more and more human. However, her presence in the war during this time left the world scarred because of her actions. Three great continents fell, including the kingdom of the prince she had been awakened by. She decided to seal herself and create another aspect of herself, Pyra, to be the main, weakened personality. Additionally, she sealed one of her swords in a continent half way across the world while agreeing to be sunken below the cloud-sea and remain in stasis for centuries as the world recovered from the war. Spoilers, it didn't recover. Her world is still dying.

Her one goal is to return to the Architect so that the rest of the world will be safe.

Personality Blurb:
♢♢♢Mythra is the personae that first appears on Alrest, and she is bold, undaunted and steadfast.  When she begins something, she finishes it, and this isn't just because of her own sense of stubbornness. She knows she has the ability to back her own words. She's quick to make decisions because of it. When something needs to be done, no matter how difficult Mythra will come to her own conclusions as swiftly as possible. She listens to her instinct, and she rarely doubts herself, to the point others may think her a simpleton or shameless. But to Mythra, one needs the confidence to act when they have power: she must believe that her decisions are the best ones she can make given what she knows and feels at the time, even if it may hurt another. That doesn't mean she is immune to guilt or error, of course, but just that she tries to mitigate any guilt that should come if she makes a miscalculation.

♢♢♢Pyra is the weakest form of the Aegis, yet her strength comes from her character: she is kind, sincere in her care, reserved, friendly, affectionate, and careful. She looks to help others when they are in need and is someone who is always willing to lend an ear. Pyra's gentle empathy is her best feature, allowing her to connect with others, to understand the world that she wants to protect. Pyra is demure, calm, not easily bothered, even more difficult to provoke. Pyra works to keep her power capped and sealed. Because that seal is what Pyra is: a self-imposed limit on the Aegis's power by Mythra, a dormant state where not all of her abilities are accessible... and where the world may be safe because of it.

Mythra/Pyra do not speak of themselves, and they're generally mum on what they are or capable of. And when they do, they talk very little. They'll let you keep assumptions and rarely clarify anything. Even if they happen to love you (and boy oh boy, they do love everything/everyone in this world), they'll still withhold critical information about themselves or how their world works, even from the protagonist of their game. Even the term "Aegis" isn't what they really are, that's just a name the humans gave them a long time ago. They are also, unsurprisingly, very guarded to the point of being unhelpful. If you're fatally wounded, they won't be tapping into more power to save your life, sorry. I'm not joking, this happens in canon.

Preferred Essence(s):
Not sure about this. Maybe some Hindu mythos thing going on, with Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva thing? The Pneuma core crystal is often times associated with creation, but it also has the privilege to destroy the world. Plus it's that whole three-personalities-in-one thing. Aaaand there's that whole thing about ~absolute truth~ that kinda ties into her attachment to the Conduit. IDK.

Or maybe some kinda mythical item? Rock? Sword? That they can be. Yeah, I'm open to whatever!!

Looking For:
Not sure, probably friends. PEOPLE TO TELL HER ABOUT THEIR WORLDS, their magic system, their... everything. She will listen. Prepare urself for lotsa questions, she'll be super interested in that shit.
H/C? Man oh man if your character needs someone to cry on she'll be there for them for sure.

Appearance:
She glows! That one is Pyra, who's going to be the main personality played here. Mythra is around ofc but she won't be interacting any time soon.
For more information, check out her permission post here in regards to her crystal on her chest. Otherwise, ignore the crystal if you don't care about it, which is totes fine with me.

Abilities:
Here is a link to them. TLDR energy and swords.

Quirks: NOT SURE, I can't think of any at the moment. But if anyone has some recs, I'm down to listen!!

Goal: Ultimate goal would be self-actualization. Thinking of herself as a person, not a crystal. That would be wonderful. Also, awakening Mythra and Pneuma. That would be swell.

You're in luck, Eizen can magically produce booze as one of his powers.

The quality of it, however, varies...

ALSO HELLO I'm Jojo or Lucine, whichever, and I play Ryotaro Dojima from Persona 4. I have always wanted to play agains a Robert with Dojima due to... you know. Similar background issues and scruffy appearances. 8D

zenyatta | overwatch

[personal profile] tekhartha 2020-03-30 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: Claire | [plurk.com profile] hoist
Character: Zenyatta
Canon: Overwatch (post-Valkyrie)
Age: 20
Bio Blurb: here; in short, Zenyatta is one of thousands of omnic robots produced for mass labour who suddenly gained sentience and began to live independently of their programming. He and a handful of others retreated to Nepal and, lead by an omnic named Mondatta, founded the Shambali monastery. Years of meditation later, they concluded that all omnics have souls, just as humans do, and from there it became their goal to spread a message of equality and harmony between omnics and humans- no mean feat, given the treatment of omnics worldwide. All life, they believed, human or otherwise, was one, guided inexorably towards enlightenment in the Nirvana-like state called the Iris.

Zenyatta, however, felt their teachings were too dogmatic, too distant; preferring a more personal touch, he left the order and travelled the world, helping those in spiritual or physical distress along the way. During his journeys he met Genji, a cyborg assassin struggling to come to terms with his enhanced body, and made him his pupil. Over time they grew close, and by the time they parted ways Genji had become a new man, ready to confront his demons.

Some time later, Zenyatta (and the world at large) was rocked by Mondatta's assassination in London during a pro-equality rally, carried out by a terrorist organisation known as Talon. As things stand at his current canon point, he's still coming to terms with his brother's death, and has yet to decide whether to involve himself in the coming storm as Talon and the new Overwatch prepare to square off.

Personality Blurb: Zenyatta is calm, philosophical and wise. Seemingly unshakeable, he's the robot you would most like to turn to in a crisis, always ready to soothe a soul in distress and guide those lost along the path to enlightenment. Admittedly, he can sometimes be a little obscure- he's a fan of aphorisms and the occasional winding metaphor- but he is both highly empathetic and endlessly patient, making him an excellent teacher for the open-minded student.

One of the downsides of being an omnic is his lack of facial expression, not helped by his self-control; around new people it can make him seem self-righteous, and maybe even a little smug. Privately, of course, he is as fallible as anyone else. He has his doubts and his fears, particularly around the Shambali; he still wonders if they can truly accept his decision to leave, or if indeed it was the right one to make in the first place, and is still grieving for his fallen brother.

All things considered, you'd be forgiven for thinking he's a preachy bore. In reality Zenyatta is friendly and inquisitive; part of what drove him to leave the Shambali was the desire to explore the world, learning about himself and the lives of others along the way. As wise as he is, there's a strangely youthful quality about him too that makes him seem far closer to his physical age than you'd think, for better or worse. There is simply so much to experience, and he'll never turn down the opportunity to try something new or tease out a new idea. He's quick to laugh and has a dry wit of his own that isn't above teasing, albeit in a gentle sort of way.

Nor is he afraid of getting his hands dirty. Unlike many of his brothers and sisters, Zenyatta is not a pacifist. While he would prefer to solve conflicts peacefully wherever possible, he also believes that measured violence may sometimes be necessary to protect those who cannot protect themselves. It is not an easy line to walk- but he is, as he would readily admit himself, as much the student as the master before the light of the Iris.

Preferred Essence(s): Right now I'm thinking about The Velveteen Rabbit! I love the idea of him channeling something comforting and gentle, but also self-sacrificing- not to mention the whole object-becomes-"real" rebirth story seems especially fitting for him. I'm also considering Pinocchio because. well. real boy!!
Looking For: See above. Stories about things coming to life or with big philosophical themes work really well for him!

Appearance: a robutt. If I do go for the Velveteen Rabbit...

Abilities: ... I think "become real" could be interesting to play with: the ability to temporarily become human and/ or turn into a real rabbit as he performs good deeds. I also like the idea of having plague-related powers. sorry you have scarlet fever now :(

Quirks: Maybe integrating a few plush rabbit features into his design, like floppy ears/ threadbare tail/ worn out bunny feet, etc? Also having a weakness to fire.

Goal: Growing, learning, meeting new people, and helping put the world back together! He's got a tendency to accidentally involve himself in everyone's Deep Seated Issues.

Once again I'm too tired to log out of this account, but you know who I am pfff.

We've had long talks over Discord about Velveteen Rabbit Zen and by lord it is pretty darn fitting, and I'll keep thinking it because of the certain twists the story does take and how fitting some of it does strike with Zen.

Become Real would really be an excellent ability and pairing it with doing good deeds to perform it. You can also do some other-side of the coin of being able to heal or at least soothe and take mind off the pain or whatever until something can be done for another ability.

Appearance wise you know I vote for giving him plush rabbit features and even integrate it in to his clothing- and a good quirk could def. be a weakness/aversion for fire.

Lorenz | Fire Emblem Three Houses

[personal profile] nobleoftheredrose 2020-03-30 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Player: bun | [plurk.com profile] bunnymoonvii
Character: LORENZ HELLMAN GLOUCESTER
Canon: Fire Emblem Three Houses, Azure Moon or Verdant Wind
Age: 24
Bio Blurb: (optional: Wiki.)

Personality Blurb: Lorenz takes his role of a nobleman seriously, very seriously. this makes him come across as a snooty stuffed shirt most of the time. Despite this, he's actually quite sincere and noble in the other sense of the word. He believes a noble's duty is to use their status help the people and he will always come to someone's aide. He's highly critical of nobles who are selfish, or use their status for less than savory actions.

Preferred Essence(s): The Beast from Beauty and the Beast
Looking For: Anything princely or related to roses. Or both

Appearance: Fabulous

Abilities:
- Lance prowess
- Horseback riding
- Some magic
- Crest of Gloucester (Occasionally strengthens the power of magic and lets him use the relic weapon of his lineage)

As for essence related things, Beast transformation, super strength, heightened senses, other beastly things?

Quirks: Not sure

Goal: To meet people from other walks of life outside of Fodlan
Extra:
Questions: Can he get a house full of invisible servents?

Hmm... I thought about The Beast before as an Essence so... Quirk suggestions of like the Disney version's temperament sometimes springing up. Or maybe prolonged periods of solitude make him act more animalistic?

As for Essence suggestions, maybe give The Rose Elf a look? Powers he could have are like maybe some plant/flower manipulation, being able to travel through them, and shrink down to be tiny. Spy on any shady nobles through them too hehe.

Personality Blurb:
Louie is a preteen con-artist, although he has recently learned a thing or two about scheming his way to riches. The boy has gained humility and perspective... But he still likes money and "nice things", and he's still a little con. He just now knows how to channel his cleverness - or sharpness - and ability to see all the angles into productive things. Still, Louie likes to take the easy way out. He's usually pulling the least of the weight in any group task, and he generally just exerts minimal effort whenever possible - except when his family's in danger, or he himself is. He's good at making this work for him, too, being skilled at using minor manipulation to get his way. It's more than notable, however, that Louie is lazy in no small part because he fears that true effort on his part will not be rewarded. He has said that he lacks the skills the rest of his family possesses, although he has learned from his Uncle Scrooge that he has his own gifts. He has the ability to pick apart a situation and see the patterns. This is also shown in his ability to delegate and the people skills he can use to charm or manipulate others, depending on his intent. While he isn't delicate in his speaking, he's sensitive in certain ways, and that's something to remember. In the episode "The Secret(s) of Castle McDuck", for example, Louie doesn't react angrily to finding out Dewey's been keeping secrets about their mother - as Huey does. Instead, he gets quiet and withdrawn - he's been hurt, and he reacts with sadness.

Preferred Essence(s): Puss-in-Boots, who cons both for his own gain and that of those close to him.
Looking For: Open to other tricksters, with a preference for tricksters who use their smarts for good.

Appearance: The green one. Except, you know, he'd have boots.

Abilities: No magical or supernatural skills, but he's got his cleverness. His Puss-in-Boots Essence might make him more agile, and I'm thinking of some kind of claw-themed weapons again, but would like other Essence-based ability ideas.

Quirks: I'm using the chasing mice thing again if I go with Puss-in-Boots.

Goal: I miss playing this garbage child in a game, and I feel like Season 2's ending gave me so much new ground to cover with him! Let's make him have to help people, even if we know he only came here because he was dragged in by the Storyteller's underlings.

Questions: Okay but seriously, would the journal display his name as Llewellyn Duck please say yes.

Ana Amari || Overwatch

Player: CS | [plurk.com profile] pocketnoivern
Character: Ana Amari
Canon: Overwatch (post Valkyrie)
Age: 60
Bio Blurb: (optional: Ana's Overwatch Wiki page.)

Personality Blurb: Hardened soldier, team leader, and caring mother all rolled into one. Ana is no stranger to conflict and warfare, and always makes sure her comrades are healthy and protected. She is frequently referred to as 'Mama Bear' by her teammates, and has a very strong sense of duty and justice within her. She strongly believes nothing is more important than protecting loved ones, which is a belief she instilled in her own daughter. She is not afraid to get fierce in a fight, even despite her age. However, she is not a merciless soldier; she feels remorse for those she has killed in combat, and never kills more than necessary. Her sense of duty and her desire to help both those she cares for were enough to even pull her out of 'retirement', masking her identity as a bounty hunter in order to keep protecting those who cannot help themselves. She's also not afraid to tease her friends and comrades once in a while, though always in a good-natured manner.

Preferred Essence(s): Bastet from Egyptian Mythology
Looking For: Personally I'm kind of invested in Bastet because I think it fits her pretty well, but if anyone has any other suggestions I'd love to hear them!

Appearance: Link 1, Link 2

Abilities: There's a lot I can play with in terms of having Bastet as an Essence! Obvious ones I'm thinking of are being able to transform into a cat and speak to cats at will. Was also thinking of giving her different 'feline' traits (enhanced balance/senses, landing on her feet, increased speed, etc.). I'd also love to play with her creating ointments for healing/protection/inducing sleep/etc., since one of Bastet's domains is perfume/ointments. Those are the big ones I was thinking of, but there's probably more I could come up with as time goes on!

Quirks: I'm not 100% sure for a quirk for Bastet. I could do some feline quirk for the lolz, but I was also considering making Ana be drawn to mothers/maternal figures, given Bastet is a goddess of fertility/pregnancy/children. Still deciding, though.

Goal: Honestly it's been a long time since I've played Ana and I'd love to give her a home once again

For some reason I thought of Robin Hood, who wouldn't exactly fit Louie but he'd still get to wear green XD
