GAME NOTES #09: FEBRUARY 2, 2019—
Who's ready for the next campaign? It's still going to be a little bit, but we already have the story picked out and are throwing a few hints as to what it is in this mini-event!

Here is the current schedule. DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Still a bit bare bones. The next set of Game Notes will have a fuller campaign schedule, but it's going to last all through March with potential to extend into the first half of April.

§ drop list.
All right, our second real story check has come and gone! Here are the ones who dropped or were swept:
We are currently at 16 characters! Still a handful, but plenty for the story we're working with next.
- 9S
- Edna
- Shad

§ hearts, hearts, and more hearts.
Although we're not holding anything official for Valentine's, the Index will have a slight makeover. It will look as if the Queen of Hearts (or some major fan and followers of the character) has taken over and decked everything in red, pink, and white hearts and colors. Even the clouds look like pink hearts sometimes. Chocolates and candies are forever on sale, little cupids are working full time, and there are a lot of romantic plays and poems being enacted and recited all over town. Beware being around bodies of waters—the sirens are out in full force, ready to sing and draw in those with empty or troubled hearts.
For those who aren't really into the "love season," maybe the mini event will be a breath of fresh air. Just a fair warning—some of the city's "decorations" are carrying over there as well.

§ mini event: tortoise and the hare
It's finally here! Situated just outside of the Index are some fields dedicated for various carnivals and festivals. This time it's decked out with a crazy, convoluted racetrack that weaves in and out of the carnival grounds. Although there are stands for people to sit and watch, there are also magical floating mirrors floating all over the carnival grounds to follow the racers and pick out highlights. The carnival grounds themselves are standard fare, with a lot of colors, game booths, balloons, and very much animal themed.
Speaking of, all guests are in animal costumes. That's right, unless they're already part-animal, all guests are given a random animal costume to wear. Full fur suit except for the head (although head pieces are optional).
Since we are a small group, we've focused the event on two major aspects: racing and special games. And to make things a little more interesting, there is also a bit of a scavenger hunt going on.
Scavenger Hunt. There are roughly ten items related to the upcoming Story that need to be found, and they're scattered all over the carnival. Some can found on the track, others are either found while playing or won in special games that are thematically related to the Story. Players can sign-up for which item their character finds and can choose however they are found. Given time and speed, handwaving acquirement is perfectly fine if a thread is not made. It is preferred to only have one, but you can go for two if there are still some unclaimed. That said, we do not need all ten items to be found during this mini-event. Anything leftover will just carry over into the campaign itself. Here is the list of items:
Characters will have this list in the journal, and when an item is found, it will glow and the item will automatically cross itself off. Characters must then hold onto it until they leave for the Story later in the month. Sign-ups to claim an item are here (there is no deadline).
Racing. It's basically Mario Kart, complete with speed ramps, jumps, and power-ups. There are a few racing scenarios designed just for players to have fun and give characters a chance to try and wreck each other—literally. They are 2-person races with one car designed after the Tortoise and the other the Hare. Tortoise cars are like tanks: slow, can get stuck easily, and are difficult to right itself if knocked over; but they are also very durable, will benefit greatly from speed boosts, and pack a lot of fire power. Hare cars are your speedsters: they go super fast, can drift through corners like a pro, and clear great distances without much need for a boost or ramp; however they have terrible fuel efficiency, can easily lose control and spin out, and are weaker to anything fired at them. Items for the Scavenger Hunt can be found on the track, but to obtain it they have to either stop and pick it up if it's off the track or just run over it if it's on.
Special Games. There are three special games where Scavenger Hunt items are the prize: Bamboo Ninja, The Golden Rabbit, and White Marble Maze. The first two can be either competitive or co-op, and the Maze is a co-op game.
There are also more generic carnival things happening, like more traditional game booths, mini races (like animal races), food, etc., that are available through the Wildcard option. We thought it best to not make prompts since those are more generic and we should focus more on what's important.
The carnival has its own designated log, ICly lasts for 2 days, and OOCly this is going to run until the start of the campaign. It is completely optional! We hope everyone will have fun with it.
