§ about.
Greetings, everyone! This is Forgotten Tales first ever workshop! Here players can come together and discuss what storybook characters they are considering for their character's essence, their new potential abilities, and even ask for help if you can't think of anything on your own. This is also doubling as an official interest check, so don't be shy!
Here are some reminders about how essences work in-game:
If you have any further questions about this or anything in general, comment to the Mod Thread.
TDM will be up October 12th. Registration opens October 19th.
Game starts October 21st.

Questions: Any other questions you might have.
Post away and go buzz about everyone else!

Here are some reminders about how essences work in-game:
- All characters will inherit characteristics and themes from a particular storybook character.
- Storybook characters can be from any work of literary fiction such as fairy tales, folklore, fables, nursery rhymes, classics, plays, mythos, legends, etc. They can be well-known or obscure, and origins must pre-date the 1950s.
- The essence doesn't necessarily have to match the character, just make sure you pick one that you can work with.
- Refer to the Abilities section to see how abilities work.
- Because the game currently doesn't allow duplicate essences, list your top preference and any others you're considering, but also be open for other suggestions. And if you see someone else list one you are considering, list it, anyway! Anyone could change their mind. Just don't be salty or badger anyone about their choice, otherwise it's an automatic boot out the door. The goal is to try to not only match the best essence to the character, but also one that people can have fun with.
- For a complete refresher, refer to the Character section of the Game Info.
- Feel free to hop into the Discord server.

...thanks addon
Originally I was trying to come up of something Father Time-esque, but could not for the life of me think of any particular stories relating to it... Otherwise, that might've been one of my first choices.

And yeah I was trying to hunt down what stories Father Time is in, but... Guess he's kind of more like those fictional figures like the Mother Nature and Boogeyman where rather than a particular story origin, the figure appears in various depictions. I think Chronos mythos is the closest origin...
But yeah, you could still incorporate a lot of "time" elements with the White Rabbit, so it could still work well!

Giant pocketwatch with some of time element would be amazing. A pendulum weapon would be interesting too, although if the pocketwatch worked anything like a Time Piece, having it get broken somehow would be the last thing you'd want to do.
Is it sad that I kind of would want one quirk to basically be the embodiment of the "15 minutes late with Starbucks" meme?YEAH THAT WAS PRETTY MUCH THE PROBLEM. Father Time is kind of more of a concept than like, a legit character anywhere. D:

you could totally do a quirk like that...only the white rabbit is always wanting to be puncture so you may have to do the opposite and be more like 15 minutes early? lol.And technically those kind of concepts are fair game, but hrm. Usually they still have a story to tie to somewhere. Hrrrrm. I'll probably have to figure out how to better incorporate those kinds of concepts since except for origin stories, they pretty much fit in the storybook realm.

I like the idea of it having two 'modes' though. Not sure about it growing in size, but having it open could change the time around her. Like slow things down? Speed her up? Or something else magically potent that it's part of the reason why the outside case is so strong, just to keep whatever's inside of it in.
Nah see, she would always trying to arrive early to something important. But through some unforeseen circumstance, she would always get hold up by something else and arrive late. Or barely on time after cutting through as many corners possible.Also...if she were to be a technically a rabbit now, and there was potentially wolves coming too, how badly would this exactly go down?
no subject
lol that could definitely work!Eh, shouldn't be too much of a problem, really. Unless the wolves come from stories that are out for rabbits, there's no cause for concern. Even then whether a character tries to "attack" is completely up to them. The essence doesn't take over or completely change their personality. At most it would just make them feel more strongly towards them. Like for example, Big Bad Wolf from Three Little Pigs wouldn't always try to kill pigs. Instead they just might feel an attraction towards pigs in a way of like "Oooh shiny pig" or enjoy eating pork more than usual. Only reason why a character would go after others is if that character is already like that and would behave in a similar way even without the essence.
...Hope that makes sense ah ha.

Nah that makes sense. I guess I still just find it awkwardly hilarious.
