Steelbeak | DuckTales (2017)

SPOILERS for those who haven't seen season 3, episode 3 yet.

Character: Steelbeak
Canon: DuckTales 2017 | After being zapped near the end of Double-O-Duck.
Age: Late 20s. (a specific age is not given)
Bio Blurb: (optional: Wiki.)

Personality Blurb: Remember Steelbeak from the old Darkwing Duck series? ...Yeah, forget him. That is absolutely not the same character.

In the Ducktales reboot, Steelbeak is still a secret agent working for F.O.W.L., but he's not very good at it (yet). Frank Angones (story editor and co-producer of the series) confirmed that this version of Steelbeak is young, only just starting out at F.O.W.L. with unearned confidence. All deadly skills, rough edges but no experience. He thinks he's ready to be in charge; believes himself to be on the same level as a veteran agent like Black Heron, only to be dismissed as just another flunky. It seems to hurt his feelings to be underestimated like that. There's some self-esteem issues there.

The trouble with this version of Steelbeak is that he's not exactly the brightest bulb in the bunch. ...At all. When Launchpad beats you in a game of poker (without actually playing poker), you know you're at the bottom of the intelligence ranking. In itself, that wouldn't be too bad, but he doesn't take criticism very well either. He refuses to accept that he could improve. The most interesting way this plays out is that when he gets his hands on a ray gun that can be used to either turn people very smart or very dumb, he doesn't use it to make himself more intelligent. Instead, he tries to amplify the signal to make everybody else dumb. Instead of 'fixing himself', he hopes to kick everyone around him down the IQ ladder to make himself smarter in comparison. It implies a level of pride and ego that's quite dangerous.

Steelbeak's temper is barely kept in check and especially when he gets called stupid (or when something else gets called stupid and he takes it personally), he kinda loses it. He's not a gadget kind of guy, he's more of a brute force kind of guy. Problem solving, in his book, usually involves either his fists, his beak or some kind of weapon. As Frank mentioned Steelbeak was in prison for cockfighting before getting recruited by F.O.W.L., it's easy to see how that lifestyle transitioned into being the 'muscle' for a secret organization.

Despite being kind of a graceless goon, Steelbeak does still have a flair for what he refers to as 'classic villainry'. This comes complete with really, really bad quips.

Preferred Essence(s): Don Quixote, maybe? (Quixote's main goal was to be a chivalrous knight as opposed to villainous spy, but he was still a hotheaded buffoon who, after securing a suit of armor, adopts an overdramatic persona and proceeds to pick fights with just about everyone and everything.)
Looking For: Characters with either a focus on stupid antics, hotheadedness or maybe a prosthetic in reference to his beak? He's not really suave/secretive enough in the reboot to warrant a spy-type character essence.

Appearance: Have a screenshot! Maybe he could have a metal helmet, too? And instead of a big feather poking out the top, it's his comb.

Abilities: Lance wielding? Or horseback riding? Don Quixote doesn't really have any actual skills, he's just a bit of a lunatic in a suit of armor.

Quirks: Extreme denial- but he already had that. Or flairs of being overdramatic, but he already kinda has that too. It feels like occasional hallucinations are maybe a bit overkill as a quirk.

Goal: Maybe acknowledging his own faults instead of blaming other people for his shortcomings. Not only that, but overcoming those shortcomings and growing as a character. Plus, this guy needs friends who treat him right- he's surrounded by jerks in canon.

Extra: I know that we technically have more potential characters here in the Workshop than the 6 character cast cap allows, so if everyone above me wants to go through with applying, obviously I'll take a step back. It's no biggie! (I mean, who is a more worthwhile addition to the cast? Steelbeak or literally anyone else? Hahaha.)
Questions: None.
