Game Notes #23: January 5, 2019

GAME NOTES #23: January 5, 2020—

BELATED HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE. The holidays are finally over and time to start pulling everyone out of hibernation. We're announcing the premise of our next Campaign, which we've determined will start at the end of the month, so be sure to check the schedule! We will include full campaign details in our next post, and we have something else we'd like to discuss with everyone, so please give your input!

§ schedule

Here is our current schedule:

MAIN SCHEDULE
1/05: Event Finale
1/25: Campaign #4: Act I START
MOD NOTES SCHEDULE
1/18: Game Notes #24: Campaign notes
STORY CHECK SCHEDULE
1/01: December Check-in
2/01: January Check-in

Everyone will still have most of January to get in any personal threads. We have a (sort of) "player plot" featuring a dwarf run scamming ring that everyone is invited to participate in.

§ story check reminder

Just a reminder that our Story Check is still ongoing and you have until the end of January 7th to comment to it. You can find the Story Check here. DO NOT COMMENT TO THIS POST, go to the official entry!

§ once upon a dream event concluded

Phew, the long nightmare is officially over and everyone can have a small break to try and recuperate and start preparing for the upcoming campaign. We also got to see how powerful the newly restored Books can be, so that was cool. The Story Eater was pushed back for now, and it continues to act like your typical villain, but we'll see it again.

As a reward for everyone's hard work, every Aspect will receive a special ornament made of stained glass. When held to the light just right, it'll project an image comforting to its owner, and when hung over the bed, it will act like a dreamcatcher, increasing chances of a good night's sleep.

§ campaign details: a midsummer rose

As the event might have hinted, for our next campaign we'll be tackling a mash-up of three different stories! The stories combined in this new tale are French fairy tale Sleeping Beauty, Scottish ballad Tam Lin, and William Shakespeare's classic comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream. It's been a long time since we've tackled a mash-up, and out first time featuring this many stories at once, so already it's shaping up to be one wild ride!

Given how big and- depending on the acting of the characters- action-packed the story will likely be, at the moment the campaign will be divided into three Acts, with the standard format of roughly one month for each Act and a week's "break" in between. We'll post more details about the campaign on the 18th, as well as sign-ups for Act One roles.

§ proposal: ac reward system

As everyone knows, we're a chill game that doesn't require a lot in terms of AC. Half the time it's check-in, and the other half you normally need one proof. To reward players who like to do more than required, we're thinking of creating an "AC Reward System" similar to other games have. Extra proofs can be counted as "points" and these points can be exchanged for certain "items" that would benefit the character somehow. We are also considering granting "points" as alternative campaign rewards so that everyone has an accessible means to the shop.

We're still in the development stage in trying to figure out how to best implement this feature for our game's needs. Thus we'd like to ask everyone:

  1. If you would like to see this kind of feature;
  2. What kind of items you think would work or worth trying to work for

It'll be useless if there's no interest in either the system or the items provided, so player input is invaluable here. Rather than take wild guesses, it would be better if we can tailor it as best as possible to those who could make use of it.

So please reply to this post with your thoughts!

§ end notes

And that's all for now! If you have any questions, feel free to comment to the post.
