Player: Indy | Indymica Character: Eliot Spencer Canon: Leverage, just before "The Long Goodbye Job," Season 5, Episode 15 Age: 39 Bio Blurb: (optional: Wiki.)
Eliot Spencer is the "Hitter" in a group of thieves dedicated to righting wrongs and helping people where the 'law leaves off.' He's a reformed assassin, who was also in the U.S. Army special forces (most likely Delta Force.) He also used to work for a criminal mastermind and was his best assassin, in which he did horrendous, unforgivable things for. He had a change of heart and stopped contract killing and used his skills from the military and his time as a hitman to become a 'retrieval specialist.' Through a job that went terribly wrong, he fell into this new found family of thieves and became dedicated to protecting them with his life.
His job in the team is basically an all-around bodyguard, who uses his physical abilities as well as his clever, strategic thinking to ensure safety for everyone else. A lot of people underestimate him and think he's just the dumb muscle, but he's actually clever and uses his accent, sweet, friendly charm and decent grifting skills to use this to his advantage. Throughout the five years that he's with Leverage, he helped save countless people from evil corporations and CEOs, survived an airplane crash, accidentally became a country music star, played on a baseball and hockey team, helped free a small country from the clutches of a dictator, foiled various terrorist plots, and became a professional chef.
Personality Blurb: Eliot had lost touch with his emotions for many years, only being able to feel properly again once he stopped killing. Learning how to cook had taught him how to feel again. Still, once Eliot found his true family through the Leverage crew, that's when he was truly learn to let go of his walls and allow himself to care and love them. Even though he feels that he can't ever atone for what he's done, and that nothing he'd ever do in the future could possibly square it, he dedicated his life to the crew. There's a part of him that takes the pain because he thinks he deserves it. As much as he doesn't like killing and has sworn never to do it, he will and has killed to protect them. Eliot is ruthless, able to make difficult decisions to shield the team from the fallout of such. Eliot will gladly take on the role of protect in the moral sense as well, if there's something dirty that needs to be done, he'll do it to save the souls of his team.
Eliot can also be incredibly gentle and kind, despite his gruff outward demeanor he truly cares about helping people and especially helping his friends, and can be extremely passionate about things that he likes, like cooking. He cares about justice, not the law, and will break every rule and law there is to make sure that justice is served. His protectiveness may stem from his upbringing and his initial desire to join the army to serve his country, but also because of the things he’s done for Damien Moreau, which may have included killing children. Whether that was by accident or on purpose (and it’s highly implied it was on purpose), Eliot’s now fiercely protective of any child that might be in danger as a way of atoning for his past.
Eliot gets irritated and annoyed easily, especially if the others in his crew are being playful during inappropriate moments in a job or are purposefully teasing him. Of course, this only goads his friends into teasing or pranking him even more, which only riles him up into levels of sheer indignation hitherto unseen by mankind. He can be playful too, but on his own terms, and is often playful during fights where he’s got the clear upper hand because of his skills (which is most of the time). He truly and genuinely enjoys difficult fights. He's also paranoid, and for good reason. He doesn't want to become famous in any way, there was one point where he ended up getting a fan site because of his country music persona for a con, and he tells Hardison to get rid of it because he can't have his face out there like that.
Preferred Essence(s): Big Bad Wolf (either from 3 Little Pigs or Red Riding Hood): Eliot's past definitely lines up with the story of the Big Bad Wolf, as he was an assassin and took innocent lives. It would be interesting to have his past come back to haunt him in this manner, especially something that he could not escape from and have to deal with every day. Also, he canonically likes being associated with wolves. The Beast from Beauty and the Beast would be fun too, because one of Eliot's defining traits is his anger and annoyance. He's also secretly romantic and is good at choosing the kind of flowers people will like to receive as gifts.
Looking For: Anything to do with thieves or protectors, or former soldiers would be interesting too!
Appearance: Eliot would definitely be getting wolf ears and a tail because he would hate it. He usually dresses in leather jackets, and tends to favor hoodies as well. He'll still be keeping his hair long which he would try to use to hide his ears. It won't work.
Abilities: Eliot is a normal human albeit at top physical condition and with a unique skillset, so it would only be building upon those natural abilities already. Being able to have a wolf form would be great as well, and he'd be a little less salty about the ears and tail thing because he'd think turning into an actual wolf is cool.
Quirks: Eliot's motto is food is life. That will now include very raw meat.
Goal: I've been looking for a game for Eliot for ages and Leverage can be both very dramatic and heartbreaking, and an extremely lighthearted comedy. I'd love for him to get into both silly shenanigans as well as angst and even more character development in this game.
