§ act i summary.

The kind bamboo cutter and “baby” Kaguya work well together in guiding her out of the bamboo. She grows into a beautiful but discerning young woman, pursued by a number of suitors. In order to dissuade them, she sends four of the princes on seemingly impossible tasks to collect rare items. All four of the princes decided to go after the true items instead of stooping to forgeries, with two princes taking their trusty squires and two princes even teaming up to acquire their two items. To Kaguya’s surprise, most of her suitors actually succeeded in obtaining their items from their fearsome guardians.

It has been decided that the princes who successfully returned with the requested items would be rejected, anyway. However, she has allowed them to stay as her "harem" of sorts, mostly as servants if they want to continue to prove their worth in battle (but she really doesn't care for any of them). Those who failed were executed.

Okay, no, they were just sent away.

But her love troubles aren't over yet.

§ act ii details.

All right, we're in the final Act of the story! Because of our numbers, we'll be focusing on the two main scenes with a few optional ones for those who may be interested. We originally had the final scene at the mountain, but have decided to save that for the final narrative conclusion as what happens would depend on the result of the threads. So let's get to the details!

Setting. This time around, everyone will find themselves transported to within the palace walls where Kaguya lives. Thanks to the efforts of Act I, everything is more or less normal with the colors and sound clear, but there are still some dull and withered spots. Everything within the palace is safe, including the Blot servants, nobles, and guards that mill about like shadows. They cannot talk or respond to much, but will oblige to any task given to them and will provide for whatever needed. Finally, everyone will once again have a wardrobe change to fit the setting (when not part of a scene). It ranges from fine noble wear to guard uniforms to servant attire.

Main Scenes. Since the princes are technically still around, those who played the part or new cast can have some additional scenes. No one has to play the same role twice, but they can if they want to!

  • Scene 1: Kaguya and the Emperor's Date. The country's emperor has also heard of the fair Kaguya and also throws his crown into the ring. After sending her letters he arrives to take her on a date. How does it go? You tell us!

  • Scene 2: Kaguya vs. Moon Knight. Kaguya is a popular young woman. Now people from the moon have arrived to take her back! It appears she is actually their long lost princess, and they've brought an army to take her back. One knight in particular had been foretold that they would be the one to take her as their wife, so they will personally seek her out to convince her to return. But will Kaguya oblige? Will she need help or fight back?

  • Optional A: Prince vs. Emperor. So the emperor thinks he's all that, huh? Time to see who is the most fitting royal. It's time to duel! In a Ninja Warrior style obstacle course. Have fun.

  • Optional B: Prince vs. Moon Knight. This is also a duel, but with real weapons this time! Defend your princess, Prince! Or give up and switch sides, whatever.

  • Optional C: Emperor vs. Moon Knight. Like the princes, the emperor has a chance to confront the Knight and with weapons. However, it's said the emperor is a wise man. Perhaps a battle if wits is also in order.

That's all we have for the main scenes! Short, we know, but we are pretty small right now. To make up for it, here are the subquests.

  • Subquest A: Shore Up Defenses. The palace Kaguya lives in is about to be hit hard. Gather all supplies and resources to create barricades, weapons, and rations. The palace bound Blots will help, but only the guards are able to train to fight. The bamboo stalks around the palace are very strong. Some are filled with gemstones, and these can be used either as explosives or healing. Bright reds are the explosives, soft pastels are the restoratives.

  • Subquest B: Fight the Moon Army. While Kaguya (and princes) deals with the leader, everyone else will need to fight against the rest of the moon army, and it's a creepy one. Made of blots, the soldiers look and move more like zombies and are tough to beat. With the light if the full moon giving them strength, some tactics will be necessary.

And that's it! Mostly competitive stuff, but we hope everyone can have fun with it!

§ cast sign-up.

As always, we ask for back-up volunteers in case something happens and someone needs to be replaced. Please only sign up if you will be able to tag consistently and often enough to progress the threads in a reasonable and substantive manner. Sign-ups will last until Sunday, April 7 and we'll give final calls on Saturday. As a reminder no one has to reprise their role, but they are welcome to if they'd like to!

Now, here are the roles:

  • Kaguya: Scene #1, #2
  • Emperor: Scene #1; Optional A, C
  • Moon Knight: Scene #2; Optional B, C
  • Princes: Optional A, B

Sign-ups will be same formatting as last time, so comment to the appropriate subthread! To keep things simple, sign-ups are a first come first serve, but we do ask everyone to include a second preference just in case people need to be switched around.

§ end notes.

And that's it! Thanks everyone!
