GAME NOTES #05: DECEMBER 7, 2018—
All right everyone, we're nearing the end of Act II! Looks like things are going along really great, and we'd like to thank everyone who has participated so far!
Act III is going to be a little smaller and we're going to do something a little different as well as "poll" you guys to see which posting format we should use this time around. As always you can go ahead and leave thoughts and feedback for how things have been going on so far.
§ schedule.
§ act ii: quick summary progress report.

The full schedule is posted on the sidebar, so just going to give the more relevant dates:
We're at the home stretch! As a quick heads up clarification, December 23rd is when we'll post the Conclusion of the story, complete with full narrative and all characters sent back to the Index. The Extended Break is basically the time when the game turns more sandboxy and allows players to just chill and have their characters adjust to living in the Realm of Stories. We'll have more details on that later.
The Final Story Check will be when we sweep anyone who does not comment to it. The format will be the exact same as the Halfway (Half Point) Story Check, but with some lenient modifications due to the season. It'll be good practice for future checks at least.

§ act ii: quick summary progress report.
All right, here's the very short summary of what has happened thus far:
Ebegeeser took pity on the poor blots around town, offering coin and even the clothes off his back (with the Horseman of Christmas Present's urging). At the party, a crazy story of the Headless Horseman is shared by Bromfred, but there are some doubts and skepticism about it. A little later, after a few stumbles, Ebegeeser manages to ask Beltrina for a dance. However, Bromfred also seeks a dance with her and shows unusual kindness. Ebegeeser then reveals to the Horseman of Christmas Present his desire to MURDER Ebegeeser, but is persuaded out of it. He then meets Beltrina in private to present her a ring for a marriage proposal, but is rejected. It's taken well by both sides, but tragedy would strike when he almost kills Beltrina when trying to help her out of the dress. (And then a fight broke out).
A lot more happened in this Act, huh. What a twist at the end!

§ act iii: details.
Just like last time, there are key main scenes and minor sub quests that will need to be done. As a reminder, only the main cast are leading the main scenes, but anyone is allowed to take up sub quests at their leisure. We're only giving quick summary blurbs here, but there will be an overall reference post that will have fuller details.
¶ setting.
The setting for Act III will occur at night outside of town. The church cemetery, the bridge, and the woods will be the main locations for both the main scenes and sub quests. By now the world is filled with more color and life, but due to the nighttime and heavy fog everywhere, it's difficult to notice. There is also a heavy sense of ominous dread, shadows flitting in and out of the fog. Basically, it's creepy. Really creepy. Like before, everyone will fall asleep at the end of Act II and will wake up to Act III in different locations.
¶ main scenes.
There is one main question we'll wish to know before the end of the campaign and that is:
¶ sub quests.
Once again we're keeping the sub quests small, but this time around they have a bit of a "scavenger hunt" type of format. Players will be asked to "sign up" under which they would be interested in (and overlap is possible) and will either assigned an item to collect or choose from a list on what to do. One of sub quests will be affected by the number of participants and items collected, so please read carefully!

¶ main scenes.
- Ebegeeser and the Horseman of Christmas Future. Although Ebegeeser is showing a change of heart, the Horseman must put the final nail on the coffin of his jealous desires. Literally. No, really, Ebegeeser will find himself in a wooden coffin with the Horseman banging a hammer into it. Don't worry, the Horseman can let him out...if they want. Or they can just keep him in there and lecture him about doom and death and all that. If the Horseman does set Ebegeeser free, they will be inside a creepy mausoleum and they must break out of the sealed door. There are various items available to use, and the Horseman can either help or just sit back and watch.
- Beltrina's Ghost. As a result of the accident caused after the rejected proposal, Beltrina is dead. She will wait for Ebegeeser to venture out of the mausoleum into the church and proceed to haunt him. She could be spiteful, sad, forgiving—however the person acting wants her to be.
- The Headless Horseman's Chase. The final scene—chased by the Headless Horseman. In this case, those acting the parts will find it less of a chase and more of a race—unless the one playing the Headless Horseman really wants to scare the one playing Ebegeeser and chase them down the path to the bridge. In any case, astride their mighty steeds(?), the two will start at the graveyard and will have to follow the road through the woods and to the bridge crossing the river. At the bridge, it will be up to the players how the scene ends. Will Ebegeeser be knocked down by the Horseman's head? Or will he turn back and fight?
There is one main question we'll wish to know before the end of the campaign and that is:
- What will happen between Ebegeeser and the Headless Horseman?
¶ sub quests.
Once again we're keeping the sub quests small, but this time around they have a bit of a "scavenger hunt" type of format. Players will be asked to "sign up" under which they would be interested in (and overlap is possible) and will either assigned an item to collect or choose from a list on what to do. One of sub quests will be affected by the number of participants and items collected, so please read carefully!
- Searching for Segment Pieces. One of the tasks the Storyteller will request of the characters is finding particular relics that will help forge the Segment path between the Draft and the Index. These relics are scattered around the setting area and will be objects symbolic to the story. How the path will look like will be determined by how many relics are collected. One relic will create the path, but will look plain and simple. The more relics collected, the cooler it will be.
This reward progress will be scaled to the number of relics assigned. So if there are 3 assigned, 1 relic will give basic, 2 will have it embellished with more thematic decorations, and 3 will make it look like the spooky bridge. For another example, if there are 5 assigned, then the scale would be 1-2 for basic, 3-4 for middle, and 5 for ultimate.
If you're interested, please sign up here! You can sign up for chance of finding at max 2 relics, and we will post the assignments once the Act starts. - Fighting the Real Headless Horseman. Although there's someone playing the role of the Headless Horseman, turns out there's also one already existing in the Draft. Only this one is meaner, dangerous, and deadlier. It's also going to look exactly like the one Rokurou described in his made-up story (yeah he made it up). For this Sub Quest, characters will need to fight the Headless Horseman and will have multiple chances to do so, like a repeating mini boss battle. Each time the Headless Horseman suffers a deep wound, it will disappear, only to reappear again later somewhere else. Players will sign up and it will depend on the number whether we pair folks off or just let you guys thread with each other at will. But either way, we will assign characters what part of the Headless Horseman they will damage.
If you're interested, please sign up here. All assignments will be posted once the Act starts. Characters can fight it multiple times but can only do significant damage up to 3 times.
§ act iii: casting.
Because this was brought up last time, we apologize for the confusion regarding the sign-up back from Act I. That was more of a general interest for the future Acts, and we wanted players to re-confirm their choices once the Act actually came into play. Things could come up, players could leave, interest change, so we already wanted and mentioned from the start that even though you "signed up" on Act I for future Act parts, you still needed to reconfirmed once the final list is posted. So if you had expressed interest back then and still have it now, be sure to sign up here in this post!
As you can see, we have a lot less scenes and even fewer roles this time around. Priority this round goes to those who either have not yet played a part OR those who have only played a part once before. Everyone else please wait until Sunday, December 9th to volunteer for empty slots. There should be a couple, but we'd like for those two groups to get first picks if they wish to participate. Otherwise, you are free to place yourself in back-up roles.
Here's our list:
Again we have separate subthreads for each character, and it will be a first come, first serve basis. Sign-ups will close 8PM CST, Sunday, December 9th. We'll make an announcement via Plurk about for last reminders, and any empty roles will be filled in with volunteer back-ups.

§ posting format poll.
All right guys, we've had two different style of posting. For Act I, we had a designated log for main scenes and free posting for everyone else. For Act II, we had free posting from everyone. The only other style of posting we didn't do was a singular designated log for everything.
With the final Act right around the corner, we'd like to ask you guys if you have a preference on which posting format would work best. Right now it's for Act III specifically, but you're free to offer your opinions for future Campaigns. Please comment here.

§ end notes.
All right, that's everything! Again, thank you everyone for bearing with us as we try to figure out what system works best for the game. If you have any questions, just comment here, AND we are open to feedback and suggestions. Your input is invaluable!
