GAME NOTES #34: December 23, 2020—

Merry Christmas everyone! We are now entering the mini break and due to the holidays it's a little longer than usual. Our Games Notes are split in two. This one is focused on the Story Check with a few notes regarding the next Act. The Act II summary and sign ups for the next Act will be posted later in the week.

§ schedule

Here is our current schedule:

MAIN SCHEDULE
12/23: Mini-Break
01/03: Act #3 Starts
01/24: End of Campaign; Break Starts
MOD NOTES SCHEDULE
12/27: Game Notes #35
01/24: Game Notes #36
STORY CHECK SCHEDULE
12/23: Full Check
01/24: Full Check

We're at the start of the mini break! Things are more or less the same setting wise for the characters as they wait within the Story for things to wrap up and shift into the next Act.

§ story check

The story checks not only help gauge player activity, but it's also to help the mods gather information and progress for the current campaign. If this is your first Check, you get a freebie pass. For this story check, all players must submit proofs with the following requirements by Saturday, January 2nd 11:59PM CST:

  1. IF YOU ARE PART OF A MAIN SCENE: a link to your thread(s) with a short blurb about what's happening will be enough for the check. You don't have to provide anything additional. If you signed up for multiple, please link all scenes you were cast a major role in. Comment length doesn't matter, but continue plugging away.

  2. ONE PROOF OR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: a link to one thread or entry dated between November 29 and January 2 (comment length does not matter), and a small blurb describing your character's progress. If you don't have a link, then a quick "I'm still here" will do. However, you can only do this once per campaign! So if you already used it in the previous checks, you can't use it again and will be swept.

Those who were on Hiatus during the Act are of course exempt!

And that's it! Just give us a thread of activity, a short blurb of what your character has been doing, and you're good to go. Feel free to throw in anything you think is noteworthy to the campaign. Please comment directly to the post. If you have any questions, ask them in the Question/Suggestions subthread.

§ heads up about act iii

Hey guys! Just in case it wasn't clear, the summary and sign-ups for the next Act won't go up until after Christmas, December 27th. While we're finishing up the scene drafts, we want to go ahead and let everyone know a few key important things.

  1. Fewer scenes. As you all know, we had an unprecedented amount of scenes and roles in the past two Acts, and the scenes were also a bit more "directed" than usual due to the nature of the storyline. So for the final Act, we are reducing the scenes and will try to have a few more open ended. (As a side note, we'll try not to have future campaigns be too "directed;" this particular story mashup ended up needed it as it was more plot oriented.)

  2. Wait period to sign-up. As a result of fewer scenes, we're going to enforce the original "wait periods" that we discarded in the last Act. Everyone who participated in the previous Act must wait 2 days before signing up. We'll give the exact date on the Game Notes when it goes live. In addition, you cannot sign-up for a character role you've signed up for before. This is in reference to the player, not the character. So if any of your characters has been Hyde before, they cannot be Hyde again. The only exception is if we're nearing the deadline and slots need to be filled. At that point, all slots are open without restriction.

  3. Pre-cast final scene. One of the final scenes will involve a confrontation between Hyde and Frankenstein's Monster. We wanted to ask the playerbase if it would be all right to allow us to pre-cast the roles to Shizuo and Kazuma respectively because both of them hold the essences of the respective roles. There will of course be other slots for both roles, so it would just be this one scene that would be pre-determined. In the future, should we have story campaigns that involve essences taken by characters, we will ask at the start if players would like to have a designated scene for their character.

If you have any concerns or disagreements about any of this, please comment to the Questions/Suggestions thread.

§ end notes

And that's all for now! If you have any questions, feel free to comment to the post.
